LordM's "$50 challenge"

Since I loved Pendragon1998's "Twenty Dollar Challenge" so much, I have decided to rip off the idea and do LordM's Fifty Dollar Challenge. I have fifty bucks in my PayPal account, just waiting for one of you to take up the challenge.

My conditions:

1. Must be a problem-free single coin.

2. Must have a nice photograph that I can save and reuse later if I wanna flip the coin on the forums myself.

3. Prefer pre-1900 coins but will consider 20th century coins if they are slabbed and pre-1965. (Tiny gold is fine regardless of date or slab status).

4. Unlike Pendragon, I will accept Darkside offers as well as US coins, which should make it easier since there's more bang for the buck on the Darkside.

5. Must be $50 or less shipped, and you must accept PayPal and its associated fee.

This offer expires in 24 hours. Who will get my fifty bucks, if anyone? image

I stole pendragon's idea but I certainly did not want to snipe him, so go with him first if you have some $20 stuff.

I see some tempting choices here so far...

I gotta go with the Kreuzer. 150-year-old slabbed MS66 silver... a clear winner, no-brainer.

However, we'll still let this run for 24 hours 'cause I am seeing some other stuff that I might want. Keep 'em coming- the response to this has been better than I expected.

And if any of you had coins you were going to sell to pendragon on his $20 challenge, by all means, do that first, 'cause while I stole his cool idea I certainly had no intention of shutting him out.

Well, I let the 24 hours pass and couldn't wait to get back home to the computer and see what sorta goodies were laid at my feet. image

Pushkin, that sales pitch is gonna be hard to resist! image

So is the World's Ugliest Fugio Cent. I have never had a Fugio cent. I might as well start with the World's Ugliest, eh?

Let me mull over all my options and I will PM some of you. Nobody said I had to pick just one, right? Something tells me "LordM's $50 challenge" is gonna become "LordM's Much More Than $50 Spend His Entire PayPal Account Challenge"...

LALASD4: I do like holed coins but I am not in holey-buying mode right now. And I already have a pretty decent holey 1833 half dime (no, wait... I gave it to somebody else. I might need one.) Will think about it. Now that the $50 challenge is over, is there any wiggle in your price? PM me and I might consider it.

mirabela: I like that CC quarter, despite the AG reverse. It has character and a CC mintmark is a plus. Right now I only have one CC in stock (a nicely toned AU 1876-CC dime). I will think about it if pendragon does not take it (I believe you offered it on his $20 challenge first).

MadMonk: No picture, no problem, if you've got proof gold. Will think about that one. What the heck is spot right now, anyway? Hmm...

cohodk: Like it! However, I already have an 1800 half cent that's a teeny bit better (G6, I think). Still, if you can wiggle a few bucks on the price I might buy yours too?

cullenbryant: I will PM you... I'll take it! However, since you didn't post pics you don't get bragging rights as the "winner" of the challenge- I would have to say Musky1011 got that with the 1856 Bavarian kreuzer. image

RNCHSN: No thanks, but thanks for playin'.

Musky1011: Let's see... silver... 150 years old... NGC slabbed... MS66... Pop 4... for fifty bucks... I just can't refuse. Congratulations, you may have the braggin' rights for "winning" this challenge. I'll take it. (I see you posted some more later that I will think about). I don't even need to look at Krause to know I want that kreuzer- it's the kind of coin one throws the book out the window for.

mcheath: No thanks, I don't like tab toning. But I do like the toning on your avatar coin. If it is one you own, you should be a proud papa- that's pretty.

twodrhrdtp: The PCGS TrueView on your Frankie is a major selling point, I think, but not to me... it's not my cuppa tea. But thanks.

Pushkin: I just can't resist, as I mentioned. image Never had a Fugio, and the IHC looks nice. And oooh, a mystery coin... ooooh! But I'm not gonna get a live Maine Coon cat, am I? 'Cause as much as I like Maine Coon cats, we're all full up on felines, here. You might say we've reached critical mass with critters...
