Question about 1880-P Morgan VAM 1A / 1A1 / 1A2 - IMAGES ADDED
I read the descriptions. My coin matches the 1A1 description of the reverse (with the die break also visible in the third leaf cluster).
I do not see a knob on the first 8. However, there is a small die crack going from the bottom right of the 1st 8 to the denticles.
Is it a 1A1 or 1A? Without the knob, does it count toward the 1A Top 100?
Sorry. No pictures. I can take some tomorrow.
1A1 III21 · C3a (Die Break Wreath Bow) (179) I-3 R-5
Reverse C3a– Long horizontal rounded die break thru lower part of wreath bow extending left into leaf cluster and right thru top of leaf cluster to second from bottom right wreath leaf cluster. Possibly struck thru a wire during die hubbing operation. Short die break in middle of third leaf cluster from top of right wreath.

possibilities if you have the wreath bow break on the reverse:
VAM-1A1, first obverse
VAM-1, before the Knobbed 8 break
VAM-39, before the clash
VAM-39A after the clash

Probably 1A2 EDS. The Knobbed '8' has several die stages of it's own. Yours would be the earliest.
