Just received my 4 piece 2006 Gold eagle UNC Set

Beautiful coins. They were set to tightly

in their box, It nearly took an act of Congress

to get them out, so I could see the reverses.

All 4 coins sure look MS-70 to me, but I guess

as usual, I am being overly generous on my coins.

In they go to PCGS on Friday. Waiting for the results,

is like waiting for the lottary results to come out. Seem

to be a lot of gold flecks on the coins, holders and velvet.

I use a plastic baby spoon to pry them out--perfectly shaped. Set of 4 in various colors $1.99 at Target.

Edited to add: the 70 rate on these is about 10%

My fingers are still numb from trying to pry them out last night.
I finally used the butt of a plastic knife to set them free. This is
the opposite of the SF commem fiasco. I guess the Mint didn't
wanna take any chances this time?

Glad to see I am not the only one that had trouble getting these out, thought I had gotten weak in my old age.

Those aren't gold flecks, they are patterns of the new Mint release...the gold cent! Just take them and mix them with your honey.

If you take a strong loop and look at the edge all the way around on both sides you will see a tick or two on some also look at the inside edge it will not be perfectly squared all the way around which will keep most of them from getting a 70.

I notice the reverse rim on my 69's (esp. the ounce) have small rim defects, the 70's do not- I agree with RotatedRainbows--------------BigE

I feel cheated, not even a flake of pyrite on my gold coins. All the rest of you guys got extra value.

Indeed, those capsules are a PITA. It took me nearly 30 minutes to pry one of the $100 W-Plats apart in the 4-coin set. At least it was an MS70, so it paid for my extra time.
