Questionable Grading PSA

I noticed there was no post for this subject, but I know I can't be the only person who has submitted their cards and said "What?" after the grades were posted. Now I know I'm not a professional grader but I've been collecting cards for 25+ years, and I think I know a ballpark figure of the cards I was sending in for grading. I sent in 6 cards- in return I got 2-PSA 8's, 1-PSA 7, 2-PSA 6's, and a PSA 4. Now I get the PSA 6's, but a PSA 4? Have others been that far off on what they sent to PSA? I know PSA has trouble in the 5-6 range, I've seen some ugly looking cards get 6's, and pretty good looking cards get 5's, but VG-EX when I think I'm sending in some 7-8 ish cards, how could I be that far off?

    ALMOST imperceptible surface-wrinkles and mini-creases
    will do it everytime.

The PSA gang is trained to look for these, and they seldom
miss them. You and I, on the other hand, seldom find them.

If everybody got the grades they wanted, high-grade cards
would have no value. The submission system works how it
    works. Such is life.

    Sultan,
Welcome to the boards! You just experienced what almost every one of us experienced with out first submission - sorry...
After the initial shock and anger and disappointment wears off, you will actually feel good about how strict the whole process is and understand why some people pay such a premium for cards with a high PSA grade. They are really thorough and strict!

Anyhow, I hope you don't lose too much sleep over it. I have been collecting for about 30 years and have come to love the third party aspect of it. Sure beats the Good Ol' Days in many many (though not all) ways.

Stick around and share your insights and experience with us!

Although disappointing, things like this actually makes me feel a little bit better. A heavily scrutinized card is much better than an over graded one. Unfortunately, I've purchased a few PSA 9's that should have graded much lower. Believe me, that's an even bigger bummer.

Before this goes POOF, I wanted to make one comment.

If you scan the cards on a high resolution, some of the previously undetected "flaws" will become obvious.

I had a good mix of 55 topps and a SUPER clean card came back a 5? I looked and looked and found nothing. I will just resubmit and see what happens. I am not settling for the 5! People make mistakes, more often at PSA the err on the side of caution...do I sound like DBH image
