Question on Babe Ruth Checks

Does anyone have any info on the number of Babe Ruth checks that were discovered. I recall Scoreboard selling them at around $1,200.00 years ago matted and framed with a small photo. I think there are the best way to get an authenticate Babe Ruth sig. even if you only get GH RUTH . Also with the card companies slicing and dicing them for autograph inserts the supply can only drop. Any thoughts? Thanks, P.

I'm not sure of the exact number, but the Ruth checks aren't the 'rarest' of the first 5 inductees into the Hall of Fame. My feeling on rarity from the first five inducted from hardest to easiest:

1-Christy Mathewson (less than 15-20 in existence, I believe)
2-Walter Johnson
3-Babe Ruth
4-Honus Wagner
5-Ty Cobb
