A penny is not a cent; and this "journalist" is not very bright.

Firstly, the U.S. "penny" is a cent, and it bears no relation to a farthing, except that the U.S. cent is just slightly larger in weight than the old bronze farthings......so, we already have a farthing, a Lincoln farthing.

What Revolution? U.S. History only goes as far back as Haight-Asbury these days.
Oh yeah, the 154 "pennies" per pound is also incorrect.....it's 145 plus a chunk.

I think the guy might deserve a break on that since the U.S. Mint calls them "pennies" on their website...
<< <i>Collecting Approaches
There are several popular approaches to collecting coins. For example, you can collect by series , type, theme and date. You can collect the coins you use everyday such as pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters - or buy specially minted coins made by the United States Mint including proof coins, uncirculated coins, mint sets, commemoratives and American Eagle bullion coins. You can also collect foreign and ancient coins. >>
