PSA Pack Grading

Check out this auction for a 1986 Fleer Basketball pack.

Can a pack with a tear get a PSA 9? If not, something happened to this pack...

I guess the seller stated that something happened to the pack during shipment back?? Otherwise this would not grade a 9.

Exactly. That might be worse, though, as it implies the pack was damaged while in the holder.

I was under the impression that PSA slabs dont allow any movement of the packs and were a tighter fit than GAI slabs?

  • Thanks for posting...

When did PSA start grading packs? Does anyone have the link on their pack grading?

    Speaking of pack grading...

How did this pack get this grade?

I'm more interested in how they know it's a Desert Shield pack. I thought they were completely unmarked. (I know one board member busted a bunch about a year ago and made a nice profit after grading and selling the singles...I think it may have been softparade. Maybe he can help.)

Haven't seen much in the way of PSA graded packs on ebay. No way that pack should have gotten a 9.

I would imagine that the seller opened a pack from a full box to confirm it was Desert Shield?
