Spink Remick Auction - More Big Prices?

Auction went today and don't know all the results, but the one lot of Guyana groats went for 2750 pounds plus comm. (against 600-800 estimate). I bet the other coins were going for BIG NUMBERS!

The 1880 Newfoundland $2 gold went for GBP900. I authorized MrEureka to place a GBP1000 bid for me.

Come to papa! Once confirmed, this will complete my Newfie gold set.

I left some bids on the Canadian since I needed to be in Basel on Wednesday. I bought a third of what I bid on, some substantially below my limits. Turned out to be a great buying opportunity. Go figure...

    1914 $10 (low grade) GBP100

Considering that that is a deep discount to MELT, I could live with it being low grade.

That one was a trap. The coin was lightly but thoroughly cleaned years ago. Although it came back with nice color, the many, many light hairlines will IMHO prevent the coin from ever grading higher than 63, if it grades at all.
