Was anyone watching larryvan's 75 topps BB ebay auctions? They're gone?

That was frustrating, I was watching about 30 cards, spent a lot of time looking them over and now the auctions are gone without any explanation. I'm sure he was selling Jeffrey Beffrey's set, because he tried to sell it as a complete set and didn't meet the reserve, then started listing singles.

Larryvan has had some questionable things going on surrounding some of his auctions. All of his '84 Donruss ones were outbid by one particular buyer with some questionable auction wins.

  • That '75 set of his is amazing! i see at 18k it didn't even meet the reserve!! Rightly so! I'm sure that was set at 25k+...... Maybe he did just list some singles, but why break the set? He'll get his price. You gotta believe alot of money and a ton of heart went into that build. I'm jealous! I was tempted to save a pic of that set just to look at! For free!!

Maybe someone made an offer for the complete set and it was accepted. Its just frustrating because I was going to bid on many of those cards and spent quite a bit of time looking them over.

Yes, beautiful set, he retired it and its 4th all time.

Roar in 84, I noticed that was your first post. Welcome to the boards, sounds like you're a 75 topps fan also. Great taste in cards.image

Re someone making an offer for the set outside ebay: If the seller ends the auctions early, you'll see the completed auctions (ended early) on your watch list on your ebay page. If ebay cancels the auctions due to violations, shill bidding, etc., there is no record anywhere of the auctions having ever even existed.

grote- Thanks, I was watching 31 cards and when I logged into ebay tonight they were just gone. Nothing saying they ended early.
I'll leave it at that, hope they get relisted sometime.
  • Yeah, I got a passion for the 75s. Love the look, love the minis, and wish I were around for the case rip!! I'll have you know it was a real pleasure reading that whole post! Nothing beats a bunch of passionate collectors just saying "what the heck! let's just do it!" and seizing a once in a great while opportunity! Affordability-wise, still probably the best set of the past 40 years. I've been lusting to buy a raw vendor lot on Ebay or elsewhere and cherry pick for grades. There's a set where even commons in gem condition look like "Charlie's golden ticket"! Anyway.....I get off topic easily...

he actually bought a good size lot from dsl last month so he may have sold some of those. i bought several right around the beginning of january. very very fast shipping and good communication, but you open up the package with the cards and it smelled like an ashtray. some heavy duty smoking on somewhere.
  • So, am I reading between the lines here that LarryVan's auctions got pulled due to some sort of violation.

I am almost positive he was shilling last week on the 84 Donruss he listed (which numbered in the hundreds of cards).

    Hmmmmmm....
