A couple of happenings in the world of BASEBALL

1. Robinson Cano voluntarily changes his uniform number from #22 to #24 in hopes that Clemens will sign with the Yankees for 2007. Is there something they know that we dont know????

2. Brian Lawrence signs with the Rockies. Why on earth would ANY pitcher want to go there? Inflated ERA can make you worth less in the future. Jennings had what I think was an incredible ERA under 4.00 in Colorado last year. Francis, Cook, and Fogg did well too, considering....

3. Appears Sammy Sosa will be in the Rangers minor league system IF he shows up. How long will it be before he is called up??? Any predictions?

4. Chase Utley signs an incredible extension for 7 years, 85 million dollars. Is that a safe contract? Well, we know it is for Utley but what about the Phils? That will either be a huge bust or an incredible signing...nothing in between.

  • 1-Yanks would LOVE to have a strong starting pitcher like The Rocket added to the rotation, even if it is for just half the season.

    2-Eh, who cares?

3-I've heard conflicting reports, some say he was smashing balls outta da park recently in Puerto Rico, other repotrs saying he was barely making any contact at all. As far as when he gets called up, I think it depeneds on two things; if he is performing well, he'll be brought up quick, if he performs bad, he'll be brought up later in the season for a gate attraction (to put asses in seats)

4-$mart $mart $mart deal for Phils getting this guy locked up for the prime of his career. In addition to the numbers he'll post, he brings a very positive energy to the Phils clubhouse that can be the spark to keep everyone's eye on the postseason. Remember, they did very well last year, IMHO just a few quality arms short of a playoff birth.
  • Great deal for the Phils, Utley is going to be a big star in my opinion. Lawrence realizes in Colorado he doesn't need to be on his "A" game. He can chalk it up to mile high.

    #21 is available in Boston.
  • Very few people know who Brian Lawrence is, so it really doesn't matter that he went to Colorado. Besides, they got burned so bad on that Hampton deal a few years ago (and Neagle also I believe) that I don't think they really like talking about pitching...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

#1 - When Andy Pettite signed again with the Yankees, my first thought that his soulmate Clemens was not done and may follow.

    #2 - Money reigns eternal

    #3 - Hope reigns eternal

    #4 - Luck is a factor
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
