Do a search on it...been discussed a few times.

In short, it means nothing...or whatever you want it to mean. It is a function of the board software that, while active, is not used. People use it for fun or to screw with others. It is NOT like an ebay user rating....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

If you want to turn it on, then click on the "profile" button in the upper right portion of the CU Message Boards window. Once in Profile edit mode you can click on the radio cirrcle "Allow others to rate me" and then click on the Update Profile button in the bottom left portion of the profile screen to save your changes. Like Bochiman say it's mostly meaningless but if you want to be rated then go for it. BTW you should rate me 10 for providing this advice! imageimage

The problem with the user rating is that there was never any consensus on whether 1 was the best or 10 was the best. Because of the confusion, it's meaningless. Actually, it was meaningless anyway. I finally just turned mine off years ago.

From what I've seen the rating means very little. However the direction your
rating is moving may be important. The number of people who have rated you
might be more important than your rating as well.

    Was Bo Derek a 10 or was Bo Derek a 1 ?

Another way to know 10 is your highest scrore is to look at the rating of well respected forum members, Lucy Bop and Mark Feld come to mind, and see where they are, usually high. It seems to me new people making serious forum contributions, who allow themselves to be rated, often start out with 10's but gradually get dragged down and end up turning the thing off.

It's an interesting forum feature but content of any post, and not the user rating, is what's important, kind of like buying the coin and not the holder.

If you worry about such nonsense, it means you are still susceptible to peer pressure and you need to grow up.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Every time I see a "User Rating" I get a good laugh.......there is no standard to the system.....is 1 the best rating or is 10 the best rating?

I bet if they assign a good to bad scale with it a lot of people would turn it off.......I leave mine on....feel free to rate me how ever you see fit.......image
