Ugly PCGS PR70 Franklin-Founding Father
I bought my very first PR70 coin a few days ago. It's a 2006P Franklin-Founding Father $1 commemorative in a PCGS PR70DCAM slab. I just got it in the mail and couldn't wait to open it.
It's not as pretty as I had hoped. Can I get some opinions from the experts?
This scratch doesn't seem right:

And there are lots of discolored regions like this:

More spots on Ben's chin:

Are the copper colored spots normal on proofs?
I really wanted one of these, but I wanted it to be perfect. Any reason why I shouldn't send it back?

Those pictures were taken through a 14x loupe. I'm not a photographer, they're poor.
I noticed that one scratch and the discolorations as soon as I unpacked the coin, without any magnification, they're that visible.
Send it back....particularly if you didn't get a great deal on it. If it was an "average price", get another one.
If you can't send it back, send it into PCGS for review of the grade. I would agree that the scratch (if it is a scratch, which it looks like) would preclude it from a 70 grade.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

None. Send it back. Buying a 70 sight unseen is likely to result in disappointment. If you really want one, but it sight seen and be prepared to pay a little more for the opportunity to pick the best one at the show.
