RampageRampage Posts: 9,681 ✭✭✭✭✭
Would you folks care to take a guess as to the grade of this Morgan dollar? I've been looking for a nice circulated coin of this date for my book and found this one. image

Thanks, Richard.

VF35; maybe XF40. Wonderful looking original coin!

Pictures aren't quite big enough for me to tell for sure... is that a Hot Lips?
    When in doubt, don't.

The pictures are a bit small, but I'll guess xf40, and yes, it does appear to be a hot lips to me as well. You guys are sharp!

the scan leaves alot to be desired in terms of offering an accurate grade. It looks to be VAM4 which is the Hot Lips. These are mostly flat strikes... this one is flat as well but it looks fairly original and may go ef40 but I would rather have a second image first

I would say VF and before I saw everyone else's response, my reaction was that it looked like a hot lips. . .

VF35+, and it does look like a HotLips. One of the markers is the doubling obscures the bottom of 'E' in LIBERTY.

Yes, the coin is a Hot Lips. image The coin was advertised as XF and I hope that is what it will grade, but I think it is closer to VF35.

Forgot to say, I will post a larger scan when I get home later. I got the coin in yesterday's mail.
