Tristar greatest pack chase

I know these are pry a waste of time....but I was up late one night watching Shop at Home and they had these on. It looked like an alright deal. I mean $1 a pack is by no means a deal ($20 for a box) but it looked like they put one or two pretty good packs in each box. Has anyone opened some of these up?

I bought a Tristar graded pack box once, never again. Forgot what I
paid, but filled with nothing but junk. Best card was a Billy Wagner RC.

Is that the same stuff that was adverstising the "find the Wagner" card?? I bought a few packs of last years stuff and ended up with a bunch of junk.
  • But eh, it's still just a buck a pack.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

Well, I think Cubby found the Wagner!!! Congrats!
  • I bought a box last year not knowing what I was getting. Boy was I pissed. It was a box full of repackaged mid 80's to early 90's Donruss cards. Never again with Tri-star on it.
  • Ditto. Junk. Avoid.

  • Don't know which was worse Yak Paks or Tri-star packs.

I know I pulled like multiples of the same card in each of the boxes. You figure with all the years and crappy sets they could have used, why do they need to give you 5 of the same Eric Show cards along with several other multiples.
  • Pack chase isn't like the card chase, in that you're getting mostly unopened packs from Topps, Donruss, etc; instead of the picked-over commons put into last year's Tri-Star packs.

Now, with that said, I bought two boxes just for F's sake and was totally non-plussed. The BEST packs I got were an 86 Topps pack and a 90 Upper Deck. Apart from a couple other 80's packs, the rest were mainly 94-2000. And in BOTH boxes I got three packs of last year's Tri-Star "World's Greatest Card Chase." Ouch.
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

"Hidden Treasures" are a total washout on the money side.

But, if you do not know the truth about how they are
packaged (most buyers do not), they are still fun to
    open.
