Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was not carrying marijuana or another illegal substance at the Miami airport and will be exonerated, league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Vick surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that authorities believed smelled like marijuana and contained a substance in a hidden compartment. Vick was not arrested and was allowed to board his flight to Atlanta.
When reached by The Associated Press on Sunday, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wouldn't comment on the report.
Miami police had said it could take weeks to decide whether charges would be filed against Vick, a three-time Pro-Bowler.
A Falcons team source confirmed that the team expects to hear something formal by Monday.

I would sue them for defamation, not for money, but just to show the public I wasn't guilty of anything.
Look at the criticism of McGwire gets for not suing Canseco. People say that if McGwire was innocent, he should have sued for defamation.
<< <i><<Look at the criticism of McGwire gets for not suing Canseco. People say that if McGwire was innocent, he should have sued for defamation.>>
The point is that he probably wasn't innocent. Talk of Canseco and the A's doing steroids has been talked about in the Bay Area since the late 80s. >>
I agree. But technically McGwire has never been found guilty of anything. If he sued Canseco it would have been his word against Jose's, which would be a pretty decent match-up. Jose isn't exactly known as a trust worthy person. The mere fact he hasn't done anything to defend himself makes him look guilty.
That is why I think Vick should sue, at least to prove a point that he is confident enough in his innocence to go to court. Trump threatened to do it to the fat slob Rosie and that forced ABC to apologize. The TSA will never do it because they will claim that they were "protecting us from terrorists". What was Vick going to do? Get the plane high and hijack it?
Free Mike Vick! Free Mike Vick!
<< <i>BTW - I wonder if it was hookah tobacco? I know that is popular to smoke with a water bong. Some of those blends looks and smell like weed. >>
Nah, why would he be hiding it in a dealer bottle(thats what those bottles are used for mainly)? Most hookah tobacco is wet and it doesn't have the same consistentcy as of the leafy greens.

Jose ain't been wrong to much, he called out Palmeiro. He, out of all those that were in front of congress came out of that looking the best. Why? Because he was willing to talk. Is he a rat, not in my book. He didn't send no one to jail, PLUS he made money off it. Does that make him unlikeable, well yeah. But I'd take Jose's word over Big Macs.

Oh, I know about real sticky icky icky ick. But I smoke hookah as well, and that stuff literally is wet. That's why coals are used to burn it, otherwise the moisture content is to high and a lighter wouldn't do jack to it.
I believe he got caught, it's no biggie. Maybe in the eyes of Arthur Blank, who knows.

I still don't understand why ex-Viking player Onterrio Smith got suspended 1-year from the NFL for having the "Original Whizzenator" when he checked through airport security. I never saw where he actually tested positive, just that he had this device to elude testing.

They don't have SECRET COMPARTMENTS for legal items. Contraband and illegal drugs, YES................legal items NO.
My guess is that he burnt most of it and only had a tiny amount or a few seeds and the TSA isn't going to screw around with it.
As for Vick, either the stuff is drugs or not, I don't think the amount will matter.

Ok, they found no evidence of drugs. What more do people want? Even if it was a little amount, why would they say there is no evidence of drugs?
Is the DA a Falcons fan and doesn't want to bring down the QB? Based on the recent cases, if a gov't lawyer can get a celebrity, typically they will go after him.

I was pulled over once, and a baggie that HAD contained an illegal powdery substance was found. I denied that it was mine, and no charges came out of that. The fact is, I was told straightup that the cost to process and prosecute such a case is not efficient/worth it by the arresting officer(s).

That depends on local laws. Normally, it's up to about 7 grams because they assume it's for personal use. When it's closer to an ounce, they will consider it "intent to distribute", which classifies you as a dealer.
Not that I've looked into it or anything...
If they had any evidence, they would have nailed him. Vick would be the big buck they could hang on the wall.

A bag of smoke was in the glove box as well. Over an ounce, but after processing I was charged with possession of 3 grams(that's the amount that the state lab said I had) or the greeny stuff. Hmmm. Makes ya wonder. Not suprising how those officers joked around with me, talking about all the things they used to do. That's what my hometown cops were like. We used to get parties of ours NOT busted, simply by getting a couple of girls we knew to uh....flash them boys. Seriously.

Seriously Stown, they pulled the ziplock out of the glovebox(that we'd...forgot was there btw. Nothing like reaching in for the registration and being shocked). I know personally, I was quite the....hmmmm A-hole? to the coppers. But when the states lab results came in, my friend and I laughed about it for quite a while. That was the biggest 3 grams I've ever seen. But hey, if that's what they say it is, then that's what it was...right? right.

It matters in the law but i doubt it matters to the NFL.

Here's another scenario.......He had already used all of the weed and the stench of it was still in his stash box, er compartment....and nobody is going to charge anyone for having the SMELL of it on them or in a container in their possession.
It'd be interesting if the NFL has him take a drug test. I'd bet he fails.
It doesn't matter if it is .01 grams or 10 grams, if it is dope, it's dope. The chemistry doesn't change just because there is a small amount.
The NFL, unlike MLB until recently, doesn't protect stars over violating the drug policy. The NFL suspended Shawn Merriman over roids. They suspended Shaun Rogers over a supplement that is LEGAL over the counter, but not in the NFL.
FREE MIKE VICK! FREE MIKE VICK!
Hopefully he watches Manning and realizes that he needs to work harder to become an elite QB.
