Da Bears are going to the Super Bowl

They really got things together in the second half and the Saints seemed to fall apart.

  • Congrats Bears fans and those crazy enough to bet on them.
  • Yes, congratulations Bears, while I would have liked to have seen the Saints win, one has to admit they had a great season and finished well. With so many of their key players so young things look great for the next few years.

Amen to that. I could not be happier for the guy. NFL quarterbacks get way too much blame for their team's failures.

Just to clarify, Grossman didn't have a great game here or anything. In fact, if Manning had the same stats in their game, people would say he choked again and cannot win the big game. - R. Grossman 11-26/144yds/42.3%/5.5 yp/1 td/0 int.

Further, I'm not going to Miami so I doubt I'll be seeing Rex there... image

Congrats Bears fans. Enjoy the SB parties.

Very true. Stats mean crap--winning is all that counts!

Correction. Grossman didn't have one of his bad games like he does when they've lost. He'll be joining the defense, who's clearly taking this team to the SB.

Defense wins Championships, regardless of who is under center.

    Just ask Dilfer image

I don't think the Rams of a short while back would agree. Just ask Kurt Warner. Their D was not what won a championship for them. The same will likely be said if these Colts win the SB. Their D is definitely not the strength of their team. Further, not too many championships have been won by teams with such an inept offense as the Bears have this year. Don't get me wrong, congrats are in order to their team and all. Just saying that it's obvious that this team wins and loses games by their defense. Grossman rarely has to do very much at all, as proven by his statistics. Grossman is near the bottom of the league in rating and has a stellar 23/25 ratio for TD's to Turnovers. This offense generally moves because they run the ball.

Grossman is playing in a game many QB's never get a chance to play in. Kudos to him.

Do you guys make this chit up as you go along. The Bears are the leading scoring team in the playoffs and were tied for 2nd in the entire NFL for 2006 with Indy, just behind the Chargers.

We have had this debate numerous times in the past and 9 out of 10 times, STL is brought up.

They were a special and unique team to say the least. Heck, they are the ONLY domed team to win a SB. If the Oilers of the late 80s and early 90s had Faulk, we would have been the first image

That number could change this year, though.

That's against NFC teams, so what's your point?

    IrishMike,

Points scored aside, it's hard to argue that the Bears offense is carrying the team.

Second highest scoring team in the NFL?? Well sure. But look at the stats. Their offense scored fewer TD's than San Diego, but they also scored fewer offensive TD's than Indianapolis, Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, New England, Cincinnati, and Jacksonville, just to name a few.

It's the 3 punt return tds, the 2 kick return tds, the interception return td, the 2 fumble return tds, the blocked field goal td, etc. (all a product of their special teams and defense) that makes it "look" like the offense isn't inept. It is. But the problem is, when it's bad, it's real bad.

Congrats to Bears fans. Here's hoping that was the last win of your season. image
