NewPS from yesterday's show (Franklin-toned) and the difference lighting can make
As with a few other pics, I have been trying to figure out how to show toning without all the glare.
Right now, I am using 2 Ott lights and shining directly on the coin then using a timer and a piece of white paper. Timer so my hand doesn't cause jiggly problems with the pic and white paper to allow the strong light through at the angle I want but to try to drastically minimize the glare.
First shot: non-direct light coin looks dull:

Second shot: non-direct light, a little more tilt, showing some of the luster it has:

Third shot: direct light. white paper directly under the light to shade. slight tilting to show toning colors.

Reverse is boring. Mostly white and a little, dark, mottled toning.
