Yes, many times. Perhaps Laura and her atrocious spelling meant to ask how many of us has ever paid over $5000 for a coin (which is what it seems to take to get her attention). I'd have to answer no to that, never having spent over $650 on a single coin.

<< <i>I bought an 1892-P Morgan in what would now be called MS60 from Bowers and Ruddy in 1973 for $59 which I earned mowing lawns. Does that count? >>
Now that's a lot of lawns It is a good thing the price of gas was about 35 cents a gallon, unless you were Pushing a rotary mower Oh & by the way, All the time
The thread should ask for posts on the opposite premise as the majority would surely have paid more than $50 at one time or another. More so now that the $ buying power is much lower than years ago.
But when I restarted collecting coins 20 years ago, I was a newb, and I would only buy coins over $50 if they were certified by PCGS, NGC, or Anacs. I didn't want to get burned until I learned the ropes.

Anything over $20 for a coin was absurd, until NOW
Most of everything I buy is over $50 sadly. But I am usually under $250 as well. Unless the Mint is selling, them I am buying even more!
