Has a hijacked account ever bought your Ebay item?

Yesterday, ebay user general_benz used Buy It Now to purchase an inexpensive, small lot of cards from me. Today I get this email from general_benz in My Ebay/My Messages:

Hello Sir

I do not know what is going on, but I DID NOT bid on your item. Please give me some time to figure out what is going on here. I believe this may be some fradulent activity and I am about to report this to ebay. Please give me some time to figure out what is going on here.

Thank you.

Looking at this person's bid history, they haven't been very active on Ebay in the past year and my item is the only item they have bid on in the last 30 days. If someone indeed hijacked general_benz's account, I can't fathom why they would only bid on one item and why in the world it would be a $5 lot of cards.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

Thanks

I had a bunch of listings on my account that weren't mine. And of course they used every upgrade, about $90.00 listing fees per item.
Ebay took care of it immediatley after I emailed them and credited my account for every penny.
I have never had a hijacked account buy anything from me though.
I think if you email ebay they should know whether it was a hijacked account or a buyer who decided he didn't want your items after the fact.
  • I've had three cards get sold to hijacked ebay accounts in the last six months. On each occasion, eBay completely deleted the item after the real account holder contacted them, and of course, I never got the money. Ebay did credit me the listing and final value fees. But the part that stinks (for me, the seller) is that since the auction was deleted before I was advised of the hijacking, I was not able to send a Second Chance Offer to the underbidder.
