Can someone help me w/ 1 of my balls, please?

image

I know what you were thinking image

But seriously...

After attending the show, I got a little nostalgic so I went through some of my old boxes. This guy was hiding in the back corner of one (probably saw light for the first time in 15 years):

For some background, we were friends of the Fogelman family, who was part Owner of the Royals back in the 80s. We went to Game 1 & 2 in KC, both losses, and I believe that's when I got this ball. However, we also went to 1 game in '84 against DET, so the ball could have been from then.

I can make out Brett, Perry, Howser, Quisenberry, Amos, Wilson, Blue, Saberhagen (I think), and Washington.

If there's anyone out there that can help me date this ball, it would be greatly appreciated.

PS - This ball is not for sale or trade image

First panel: Don Hood (one of my favorite autographs of all time!) Jose Martinez, Don Slaught, Amos Otis, George Brett, Keith Creel (?), Dick Howser (sweet spot)

Second panel: Vida Blue, Joe Simpson, Leon Roberts, Hal McRae, Frank White, Bud(dy) Black, Steve Renko

Third panel: Greg Pryor, Jim Schaeffer, John Wathan, Gaylord Perry, Larry Gura, Paul Splittorff, Cesar Geronimo, Willie Wilson

Fourth Panel: Rocky Colavito, Willie (Mays) Aikens, UL Washington, Dan Quisenberry, Cloyd Boyer, Pat Sheridan, Mark Huisman, Joe Nossek

I think I got them all except the one under Brett...sorry I don't see Saberhagen. For what it's worth they all look fine to me and looks to be 1983 or 1982.

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Worthless? I am not even a Royals fan, but if you can throw it to Western KY, I'll catch it!

Oh I was just joking, hence the image

While of course I was hoping it would be a '85 ball, I'm still happy about it. I mean, how many can say they have a 82 or 83 KC team autographed ball image

Seriously, thanks to everyone of you for the help image

    I mentioned this before.

I remember 1985 well since I just got stationed in St. Louis just before the WS started. The I-70 series was incredible!

Stown - I think owning an 82-83 team ball - that's is definitely genuine - is off the chart!

The ball is in super fine shape also!

    thanx for sharing it

  • is it the resolution on my pc...or are 1/2 those autos stamps??

Vida Blue....why does it look like his name is signed under the Rawlings stamp?
  • I think it looks good....nice find. Vida Blue likely signed there because he was one of the later to sign. I have a Chiefs mini helmet signed by 30 various Chief players, the later few had trouble finding room to sign as some of the earlier made large signatures.

I'll defer to Stown on that one - good eye.

I'm not all that familiar with stamps - it doesn't look like a stamp to me.

On the Rawlings stamp thing - the ink from the stamp is denser than the pen used I believe - so it just didn't attach to the blue?

or it could be a stamp and that's why the ink didn't cover the blue?

    Wow - I'm so confused.

Holy freaking poop, you made my heart stop for a sec.

It's the scan because in hand, the sig is on top.

  • Stone,

    I'm confused too..that's why I asked...

    1/2 look real....1/2 look fascimile..they are the same shade..same thickness...almost too uniform...

I'm looking at it right now and I can see how the pictures appear to be misleading. I am absolutely, positively confident each sig is legit.

In fact, would be willing to put up a PSA/DNA test if anyone would like. If it's fake, I pay. If it's not, you do.

    Deal or no deal?
