"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

No love for Tris Speaker? I know he played before 1986, but he put that franchise on the map.
Remember these Chuck Norris Facts
1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday

You know guys - this is great ! Thanks for all the responses. I really screwed up.
I said "FAVORITE", when I meant to say the "BEST". Anyone want to re-vamp it now? LOL!
I will, however, put MY FAVORITE team:
Catcher Bill Freehan
1st Base Norm Cash
2nd Base Lou Whitaker
Shortstop MICKEY STANLEY!
3rd Base Aurelio Rodriguez
Leftfielder Willie Horton
Centerfielder Ty Cobb
Rightfielder Kirk Gibson (JUST KIDDING!-AL KALINE!)
RHP Denny McLain
LHP Mickey Lolich
Relief Pitcher John Hiller
Designated Hitter Darrell Evans
Pinch Hitter Gates Brown
Manager Chuck Dressen
I picked Chuck Dressen over Mayo Smith and Mickey Cochrane ONLY because he is the manager in my humble opinion
that started bringing the Tigers together in the early 60's.
THERE YOU HAVE IT!

RF- Merv rettenmund
RF- " Honorable " mention-- Jim Fuller- In a game in 1974, trying to gun down a runner at home from the right field corner, threw the ball into the press box. I was impressed. Killer arm, no accurracy. Then there was the game where he went back on a ball into the corner . As he turned around , the ball bounced between his legs onto the warning track. He then turn towards the warning track , then the ball hit the wall and bounced back between his legs towards the infield.

Edited to add Eckersley, who I cannot believe I forgot. Although it would have been nice to have him as the closer.
Love the offense, and the top four pitchers....Pedro, Clemens, Tiant, and Schilling.
The late 70's Dodgers teams(and '81) are some of the coolest teams to enjoy. I like their 1978 yearbook with all the key guys on the cover.

As much as I love my Cardinals, and as good a team as the Red Sox and the A's could put together, in the hypothetical best-all-time-lineup league I still think the Yankees win over 100 games year in and year out. They're a little thin on starting pitching (assuming they don't get to steal Clemens, Perry and Niekro) but would it even matter? There are four players on this team better than the best player on almost every other team.
