"Slabbed" Sports Illustrated Magazines

I have a nice issue of Sports Illustrated that is autographed by Pete Rose. Does anyone think somewhere down the road that Psa will authenticate auto's on magazines ? It seems they could pull some slabs from the comic book side that may fit sports illustrated issues. Could be lucrative for them in my opinion, I know a lot of people collect old Sports Mags and it seems to me that slabbing them would at least be as lucrative as ticket grading or even more so.

I think that is a great idea. I have a bunch of SI's from when the Cowboy's were actually good (the 90's). If I had them auto'd, they would look sweet slabbed.

By the way Barry, do you have that $500.00 I loaned you?

That is a good point and I didn't know that comic books could be slabbed. I guess though that you could scan it first.

We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I thought Psa had an branch that graded Comic Books, But after looking I think I was wrong. I do know they can be graded and slabbed however. I had a few at one time.

CGC makes a nice product. Maybe they would do "other" mags
    on request.

The comic collectors usually have their nicest copy slabbed, and keep
a circulated raw copy for "reading."

EDITED TO ADD: I just discovered that CU is grading precious stones.

Actually, CGC is a sister company of SGC, just as PCGS is to PSA. I agree though, I would like to see PSA/DNA be able to authenticate/slab autographed sports magazinesimage

I know there are a lot of guys who collect SIs for the express purpose of getting the cover subjects to autograph them, then have them professionally framed. This could have a similar appeal.

It's something they should consider, IMHO. I think it would be popular enough to be worth undertaking.

Not only could they slab SI's but think of all the Becketts that would look good slabbed with auto's. And wouldnt it be a slap in the face to Bgs if PSa started slabbing Becketts?

Just the other day as I was gathering up some tickets to send in for this month's special, I began to wonder about the grading of official game programs (since my tickets tend to be stored with my game programs) and/or team yearbooks. I'm not talking about autographed programs, but the programs/yearbooks themselves. It would be an interesting undertaking, as assigning 1-10 grading standards to a program with 25 to 100 pages or more could be difficult.

In any case, just like ticket grading, the grading of game programs/yearbooks would seem to be a worthwhile service for those attempting to buy/sell programs from significant sporting events or even for those who attempt to collect regular season programs and/or yearbooks from a certain team. It would certainly solve my current dilemma of how to store the darn things and keep them well-preserved. Of course, Stone's point of not being able to look at them is certainly a MAJOR drawback.

While we're on the subject, here's one more item I'd like to see PSA start to grade (not mine, by the way, pulled it off ebay - my floors aren't that nice) :

Not quite, they are 2 different companys and have no business relationship together. 2 different CEO etc.

One is located in NJ, the other in Florida.

NGC is another company under the umbrella, but owned and operated independently of one another.

    Steve

    Good for you.
