Cards that are "air brushed"

I was looking at my Emmitt cards and came across this 1994 Collectors Choice Emmitt. Look at his face. I always called this card "the Emmitt fake face card". The geniuses at U.D. either lightened up his face and totally changed the way he looks or just decided to color a face on the card. I think my second guess is what they did. Either way, the card just looks dumb

Anyway, it might be a cool idea for a thread.

Does anyone know of or have any pics of other cards that are obviously "touched up"at the factory?

    Matt

Ya mean like airbrushing the team logos?

There's tons of those. Many times having to do with licensing I believe.

I was leaning more toward crazy dumb stuff like what they did to Emmitt's face image
  • As far as the Emmit goes Matt....atleast we know who was really pictured here and how he spends his "off" days!!

I have seen some, one being a 1980, of Ron Leflore that looked like he was wearing eye liner, because they had drawn it on for some odd reason.

  • another "eyeliner" card -

  • I dont have a pic stored but a major abrush job was on 1990 Pro Set Music Dread Zeppelin. In one his shorts were too short and it appears they ABrushed a pink Dot to cover something ?image Then later they just made the shorts longer.

Who wore 22 before Emmitt? Maybe it was a pool photo or preseason game with someone else wearing 22.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that the entire head/helmet is photoshopped onto that card...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

This Eric Lindros card was controversial when it came out. U.D. didn't have an action shot of him wearing #88 because he had just signed with the Flyers. They superimposed his head on the body of another player who had worn 88.

  • I couldn't find one to post, but the worst all time air brush job is the uniform on the 1976 Walker Gillette card.
  • Not really the crazy airbrushed additions this thread wanted but here you go anyways. You get what you paid for.

    Short shorts vs. longer shorts

I think I have seen the corrected hand totally covered and one partial. Anyone know?

RedHeart, if you look closer I think you'll find that the 88 was airbrushed too. I'm pretty sure the Big E was the first Flyer to wear that number.

  • Those are hilarious!!! Thanks. Got any more? Wasn't there an issue with the 1989 Fleer Joe Hesketh? I think somebody was flipping him off or something. Anyone got one of these?
  • Yeah Joe Hesketh 89 Fleer has a fan in background waving with one finger. Uncorrected to my knowledge. I am pretty sure I have a few extras. If anyone wants one PM me and I'll get one out free (if avail.)
