85 Fleer experts, need some help...............

I am putting a 1985 Fleer set into plastic sheets. It has been in an 800 count box for 15-20 years. About 75% of these cards are O/C left to right. Is that a common problem with '85 Fleer? I don't think the dealer intentionally did it because this was long before grading and some of the star cards are ok.

I was thinking this is due to the way they were stored...

Is is this similar to a framed matted picture sliding in the frame?

I knew there was a reason why i store my cards flat in a bunch of stacks on my desk

Yes, off-centering is most definetly a problem with 1985 Fleer; I should know, I have a complete run from 1981-95. image But at least you don't have to worry about miscuts like you do with 1970s Topps sets. image But don't let that stop you from collecting the 1985 Fleer set; it's still a very nice, colorful set, though for some reason I like the 1984 Fleer set a bit better; the design is very 80s. image

Speaking of '84 Fleer; that's one of those sets - like the '63 Topps - looks so nice when the centering is dead-on, but when OC (which is most of the time) don't look so hot.

Think the quality control was bad those two years? Check out 1981 Fleer; errors galore, and couldn't even cut the cards straight half the time. image

  • Funny you mention that. I'm working on finishing up my 81 Fleer tonight. Just going through and checking cards off my list. The errors and everything are very interesting.
