Help on "frosted" PSA slabs

What does a tampered PSA slab look like? I've seen people talk about frosted PSA slabs, but I don't know if I recognize it or not.

Do you think this slab has been opened and resealed?

My opinion is no. I have some that I have won off Ebay, that have some slight frosting on a them or appeared, I guess slightly cracked. I think that this sometimes happenes during the sealing process??

That slab looks fine. If it had been cracked, the very edge would look white and uneven. Great card, by the way image
No such details will spoil my plans...
  • Thanks guys. I didn't notice the variation in the top edge of the slab until I had my hands on it, then I started to wonder...the differences don't seem to go all the way to the seal, though. Hopefully this is an artifact from the sealing process.

-- Thanks! It's great to have one of the "big" football cards.

When you say the very edge would be white and uneven, do you mean looking in the groove on the edge of the slab?

When I've busted slabs, it's been obvious by looking at the front of the slab. The whole outside border would be "frosted." I've never looked in the groove edge after busting one. Kevin Savage is a reputable dealer, I think you bought a great card there at a decent price.

  • Thanks Joe. I've had good dealings with Kevin Savage too -- I didn't mean to imply otherwise. (I guess even the new anonymous bidding on eBay isn't so secret... image ) I am probably just more paranoid on this card in particular.
