Another bidder to block.

User ID: leilei20921

As though an ID registered in China + Private feedback isn't enough to block him outright, the fact that I gave him his 5th negative feedback in 6 months should be.

The shipping option stated in the auction description was Global Priority for $10.00. That wasn't good enough for him, so this is our conversation (copied from dispute console, so it reads from the bottom up).

Hello,

As stated before, Registered airmail or Insured Airmail Parcel Post costs $21.00 for this
item. Global Priority is $10.00. Please make your choice. Thanks.

Hello,I need box,I need Registered airmail.postage? let me know.Thanks

Surface Letter Post is $6.90 for this package. It weighs more than 1 pound. Airmail is $11.45 before
the registration fee. Would you like Registered Surface Mail? That takes 4-6 weeks. I can send
Registered Surface Mail for $16.00. If you like, I can just send the coins and not the box. That
will make the package lighter. Some European customers ask me to do that. Let me know. Thanks.

Hello,

Insurance is not available for Global Priority. If you would like insurance, you have two
options.

1. Registered Airmail Letter Post
2. Airmail Parcel Post Insured

Both options cost
$21.00.

Hi,you by Insurance mail or registered airmail to me.I can accept?but I like registered airmail.

leilei20921 Dec-31-06 at 03:54:05 PST

Hi, you not reply my Messages on 28-12-06. again, my question: I need Insurance,$2.50 per $100.I add
$2.50(Total 12.50 postage),you by Insurance mail to me.I await your reply.
Happy new year

I finally closed the dispute and gave the guy an unpaid item strike, which prompted our negative feedback. Didn't someone say recently, a negative from an unpaid item dispute doesn't go against your percentage? I don't really care that much as I'm kind of glad I finally got the first one. Now I can really tell most of the eBay bidders to piss off and not worry about it. image

Just out of the principle of "I'm right, and he's wrong." I went ahead and filed a feedback removal request. Here's what I wrote:

Bidder refused to follow through with bid, despite reasonable alternatives being offered to a clearly stated shipping method and cost in the auction description. A final pair of choices was offered to this individual to which he did not respond, therefore I closed the dispute with an Unpaid Item strike and received what I feel is an unfair and undeserved negative feedback for his ignorance. I see he was hiding several other negative feedbacks with his Private Feedback. Why is this even allowed? It just allows problematic users to continue taking time, money and reputation away from legitimate users and sellers. We pay several thousands of dollars a year in seller's fees just to put up with this abuse. It hardly seems right.

    Sincerely,

Not fair. Where else will they get examples to counterfeit? image

    Mac,

I'm leaning that way, I tell you. All but one of my most recent problematic bidders were from China. I doubt I'll ever do it as there are certainly plenty of legitimate buyers there, just they have a higher ratio of PITAs it seems.

Guys like that irritate me. I no longer buy from or sell to China.

Josh, your feedback removal request email to ebay has one problem: it is too logical.

Can you block only China? or does most of Asia go with it?

  • Josh,

As usual you were more than reasonable. I am sorry you got a negative that, in my opinion, is totally out of order as acceptable. I hope you get it fixed.

ps: as a personal request please don't block Norway. I can't afford to move to another country right now

Typical eBay "we're not going to do anything because you will continue to come crawling back anyway" non-answer:

    Dear Joshua,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the negative Feedback you
    received from Item number 290060962975.

I know this event on your part must have been frustrating for you,
especially when you have always been a conscientious member of eBay and
have worked hard to build a good reputation in the eBay community.

Joshua, I realize this negative comment seems unfair. Due to the number
of feedback comments left on a daily basis, and the fact we believe the
Feedback Forum to be an open forum of communication between buyers and
sellers, we do not investigate the comments members post for
truthfulness or accuracy. While we do encourage all members to post
professional, please understand that we will not remove feedback because
it seems unfair, or the member lied.

In addition, Feedback is a member-to-member system that allows members
to leave comments about their transactions. For this reason, it isn't
possible for eBay to prevent buyers from leaving Feedback for a purchase
    the they don't complete.

In some cases, we can remove Feedback, but only if the comment meets the
requirements for removal under our Feedback Abuse, Withdrawal & Removal
policy. We've reviewed the Feedback that you asked about and determined
that it doesn't meet the removal requirement as outlined in the policy.

To learn more about the eBay Feedback Abuse, Withdrawal & Removal policy
and the requirements for removal, go to:

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-abuse-withdrawal.html

Although we can't change or remove this Feedback, you may be able to
withdraw the Feedback rating using our Mutual Feedback Rating Withdrawal
process or a dispute resolution service such as SquareTrade.

To learn more about these options and other suggestions for resolving
    Feedback disputes, go to:

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/feedback/feedback-disputes.html

I have seen the response that you posted for this feedback. I believe
that in this manner, other eBay members will be able to comprehend what
exactly took place and understand your point of view. Feedback can be
very valuable to you when contemplating a purchase or selling your
product. The same way that you can generally uncover both positive and
negative feedback, this may also help other members to be cautious on
    their decisions.

In regard to your concern on private Feedback, plaease understand that
eBay doesn't edit Feedback, becuase of this, we offer the option of
making your Feedback Profile private if you have received comments that
you feel are unfair or untrue.

However, please keep in mind that members who have a private Feedback
Profile can't sell items on eBay, and many eBay members won't conduct
business with a member who has hidden Feedback.

This new policy applies to all listings that were created on or after 23
October 2006. Listings that were created before 23 October 2006 are not
affected. The seller may still sell items that are listed already before
the said date however they will be unable to list new items while their
    feedback is set as ?private?.

I understand your frustration regarding this matter and apologize for
    the inconvenience it caused you.

    Sincerely,
    Edna

    wybrit, I agree.

Wayne, don't worry. I've never had a problem with Norway. I likely won't block China yet, but I'm going to run a report and see how many eBay sales I've made there, just to see if they're worth it. image

  • I once had a negative feedback left, with positive remarks made, for a successful purchase......

How the seller, with all the extra confirmations required, still managed to leave a negative, I'll never know....

However, I did write to SquareTrade, and by mutual agreement, did manage to get it removed.....

Cost me $15 to remove a negative for a $2.76 purchase... This was back in November of 2001; I don't know what changes in policy have taken place since then...... Still, it might be worth the effort.......

Our past experiences with eBay bidders registered in Asia has been predominantly negative. The majority of the problems stemmed from an apparent inability to understand the terms of our sales. It got to a point where more than 50% of the sales weren't getting completed, and a majority of the sales that did get completed were complicated and drawn out, primarily in the communications department. We made the decision to block all bidders registered in Asia with the exception of Japan (eBay gives sellers that option). It was not worth the headache for the potential of a few extra dollars.

If we get a request from a bidder registered in Asia to bid on one of our auctions, we will occasionally add them to our exemption list so they can bid. As long as they coherently acknowledge the terms of our sale and payment methods accepted, then we're happy to have them bid. I would not qualify the exchange of emails shown above as coherent acknowledgement on the bidder's part.

Well, it seems we have sold to 11 people in China all the years we've been in business. Rarely was a transaction over $50.00. Five over $100.00. At least several headaches. Gross sales $1312.16 with shipping in 4+ years. Really doesn't seem like a worthwhile market, does it?
