How 'bout "Will The Thrill", Fred Lynn, and what about Harry Steinfeldt, the first baseman for the Cubs in their "Tinkers to Evers to Chance" days, who many claim was a better ball player than his more famous team mates, too bad his name doesn't sound nice in verse!
huh?
...to chance, wouldn't chance be the first basemen?

<< <i>Cecil Cooper. Always felt one of Yount's MVP awards went to the wrong Brewer.
Maybe handsome Don Mossi too. edit: I just researched and now retract my nomination for The Sphinx - but he's still a handsome devil. >>
I agree with Cooper being overlooked. I dont think he should have won MVP in 82 though. As a kid growing up in Milwaukee in the late 70's early 80's. I saw a lot of him and may be biased as well. But you couldnt ask for a better hitter (power and average), clutch hitter and good glove. Those early 80 brewers were a loaded lineup with fire power to spare. Didnt Coop end up just short of 3000?

Aro, the sad thing is that many of the Hall voters don't know a thing about guys like Ted Simmons. He doesn't have the "Fame" part. Thats the problem, the voters weigh heavily on the fame part...but yet they don't, as the most 'famous' of all 'very good' NON Hall of Fame players is NOT IN THE HALL OF FAME........
Roger Maris.
But players who are actually better than others who are in(or the outsiders who get a ton more support) are COMPLETELY snubbed. It isn't as if it is close in support, it is a complete snubbing.
Many of the voters simply need a better baseball education. And these players need a lot more loving...KEEP 'EM COMING!
I wonder if Roger won't be getting in soon. Not so much because he deserves it, but more as a statement about those that broke his record. 61* may in fact turn out to be a record that stands for a very long time - in my mind, it's already stood for 45 years and counting.
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

<< <i>Bernie Williams is very under rated. >>
Bernie Williams would certainly be in any Yankees fan's HOF.
Myself, I say Steve Garvey 6-time 200-hit seasons. Not quite good enough to get into the HOF. Also Reggie Smith and Chili Davis. And Wes Ferrell.
