  • find the Topps 52 Mantle and then have someone else organize the rest of them for you.

seems like the obvious first step is weed out all the cards which have considerable value, get those in holders or cardsavers and then organize the rest into sets. once you have an idea of what sets you have, find out which sets have the most value and start organizing those first, i.e. get the key cards protected and put the rest in binders with protective sheets.

give us an idea of what types of sets you have and what years and there are many experts on this board who can tell you what to look for in each set, i.e. low pop cards, high value cards etc.

    good luck!

That sounds like quite a task!

Check on here for people that have excel spread sheets - some people here are doing a lot of sets.

When you have a list and years - come on back to this thread - if I have cards that you need - I'll be glad to help.

As it goes for organizing - I'm good at it but am the "Prince of Procrastinators!"

    Good luck

  • well i am a procrastinator as well , but am finally getting around to doing this . i know alot of the cards and sets are not worth much but i figure since there isnt much else to do with them i may at least finish some of the sets. the reason i bought these cards in the first place was to finish my own sets that i had started in my own collection . not to mention the guy i bought these from kept them in mint shape .

p.s. unfortunately there doesnt seem to be any 52 mantles but i did come across a couple pujols rookies
and a brett rookie that is just beautiful

Big, I just went through this a few months ago. I had about 80,000 cards that were partial sets from the late 80s and early 90s from all 4 mfrs.( Topps, Fleer, Donruss, UD) I spent weeks going through and writing down which cards I needed to finish these sets. Then I realized how much $ it was going cost me to buy all of these cards to finish these sets. It was not worth the time or money to finish them so, I went to a few card stores in my area and bought all of the sets factory sealed. I took the 80,000 cards to the shriners for the kids. Now I made tons of space by getting rid of worthless commons I had in triplicate. And the factory sets look nice in my card cabinet.
