Off Topic : Paypal charges for shipping Ebay items

Hi Guys, I have always wondered if there was a way to separate the shipping and insurance costs from a Paypal invoice? What I mean is when I send a Paypal invoice, I get charged a Paypal fee for not only the final bid price but also for the shipping and insurance costs. Is there a way to stop this charge? It is bad enough that Ebay makes money when you list the item, when the item is sold and now when the item is paid for through Paypal. Do they also need to make money on the shipping and insurance costs too. It just doesn't seem right. This is one of the reasons that I believe in making as many transactions as possible outside of Ebay. If the seller and buyer are both honest, there should never be a problem doing business without Ebay getting their 10%-15% cut of the deal. Neil

I agree that is a complete crock of crap. If you ask me I'd even opine that the practice is somewhat questionable too.
seems like stuff like that is usually the type of thing that makes for a class action.

The problem is that the sellers would then inflate their shipping charges to save on Paypal fees. Assuming people factor S&H into their bidding what's the difference between and item that sells for $5 and you are charged $15 to ship it versus the same item that sells for $15 and $5 to ship? I can't say that I like the fact the paypal take a slice of S&H costs but I do see why they would take slice of the total $$.
