here are 36 different die varieties and die states, four more will make a roll
I still need most of the really rare ones but do have a few R4s and R5s

Reminds me of the 1794 cent roll ever made. I recall seeing it on the internet, although I'm not sure where..

Here's a B-8 with decent detail and skin
And two I haven't cracked out of the seller's holders yet, got these varieties for the first time the past couple of weeks, the 1819 is a B-3 and the 1828 is a B-4
these last two I really like the surfaces, would like to find a few more like that in original VGish condition

I'm especially liking those last two also.

I'll probably send all these in someday for trueviews and holders, but want to get it to a certain point first. I figured early on that I'd never be able to get very far on these if I went much higher than Fine in grade, and even if I did, the keys would still be lower grade when I eventually could afford them, plus I also really like coins that circulated a lot before being saved, they just have so much history to them in terms of handling real economic transactions, as long as they have identifiable details and die traits. So, a relatively matched set of VG (give or take) coins with all the die varieties and as many die states as possible is the goal for 1796-1828.
Haven't really started with the small size 1831-1838 coins, have a few pieces in VF as that will be the goal with those, but concentrating on the large size for now, in fits and starts

It's fun to see all those bust quarters in one place. I wish some other collectors of the series would put together a group pic like that!

<< <i>Obviously, a very popular set: Link to PCGS registry for early quarters by variety >>
Coincidentally (?), between yesterday and today, the number of Early Quarters by Variety sets registered at PCGS has doubled!
Yesterday at this time, there was one set with one coin. Now a second set with 5 coins has joined Evergreen. Welcome Shogun!
edit: I see that Shogun is our own Scubafuel! You have the all-time #1 set, and you've got two of the more difficult ones out of the way already (1822 B-2 and 1825 B-1)

Needless to say, I will save the couple thousand dollars this would require, and spend that that money on more coins.
I guess I should take down the set as well? Oh well.
