Anyone dealt with Steve Verkman? Clean Sweep

I was driving today and heard a gentleman on the local sports radio station talking about sports cards and autographs and the such. He and his company are going to be in Kansas City this weekend and I thought it would be something fun to check out and not too crowded since the weather here is just absolutely brutal.

I was wondering if any of you had dealt with this company/person and if so what your experience was. I am thinking about lugging my credit card along (I know, bad idea) to pick something up if I saw something that interested me. He has a website up called csauctions.com Any comments and/or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You'll get a wide variety of opinions regarding Mr. Verkman. I personally haven't dealt with him in probably five years or so, but the few purchases I made from him went smoothly. I know several of the OBC guys that will never deal with him again because of the way he treated them.

Must have been a slow news day if they were talking about them on Sports Radio.

Well, the Chiefs are out of the playoffs, and the hot stove league is never really hot around here! They actually had him on doing an interview and then he took some calls to appraise stuff. Trying to get people to show up to his road show.

  • Steve is one of those guys that is 50-50...you either love to deal with him...or just don't get him!!

He has an incredible amount of knowledge about off the wall stuff and odd ball issues. He runs a monthly auction that again..you either love or hate...

But knowing Steve personally and having dealt with him for years...I like him!! I'd take Steve over 1/2 the blowhards that set up at all the big shows anyday.

As for the sports radio...he pays BIG $$$ when he promotes a local buying show in any city...and radio is keyto getting people in the door. Between adds and media coverage...along with his auction magazines....he spends more on print in a fiscal quarter than most people will make in 6 months...

    So he's doing something right!!

I've bought at least 1 card from him, probably more... I asked him for a scan, he sent it quickly... the transaction went smoothly. I think he has a tendency to overprice things a little, but he's entitled to ask what he wants... whether he gets it or not is another story.
