Saw this on a thread over on the Beckett boards. A guy there pulled this 1/1 dual logo patch/auto card from a pack of '06 Ultimate Collection:

Sweet card, right? Trouble is, the Frank Thomas signature matches this one:

Those guys at UD need to lay off the water bong for a while. Their QC is just terrible.

    This wouldn't have happened if they didn't use those stupid stickers.

    And if you think this is upsetting, just wait another twenty years until all those stickers start drying out and falling off..... Although in this case, I guess it would improve the card.

    Personally, I wouldn't pay a quarter for a sticker auto. That's the reason that I've stopped buying new cards - not to mention most new products have been watered down the past several years (i.e. SP Authentic).

    Here here! And I'm sick of the argument that 'we need to use sticker so we don't need redemptions'. For God's sake, think ahead a couple years. If you know Brooks Robinson or whomever is going to be in the 2008 Legendary Cuts set, then just make the 2008 cards NOW and get them signed in the next two years. And as for the RC's, everyone knows who the 'impact' RC's are going to be a year in advance. You could just go out and make Jamarcus Russell cards now, for instance, and have him sign them sometime between when he declares for the draft and when the product is released. If UD has to use stickers for the myriad 5th rounders that they fill their rip-off products with then that's fine, since nobody cares if they get a sticker auto from an unknown free safety from Rutgers or wherever, but make sure the marquee names have sigs ON THE CARD. It's not rocket science.

    Bottom line......have the cards printed ahead as Boopotts says...and PAY an UD consultant to travel to the player and witness the autographing! Meet at their house..or hotel..or beach somewhere and just get it done!!

    No..instead they caiter to the players and have multiple sheets of stickers signed...

    Let's see....a room at a hotel for 1-2 hours tops...what a couple of hundred bucks....airline tickets for the UD agent to meet the player...a few hundred more.......a few hundred autos ON cardboard and of the actual player in question...PRICELESS!!

    Someone at UD should lose their heads over this....

    C'est vrai, mon ami. But I am tired of the argument that 'there's nothing we can do about it.' If we can put a man on the goddamned moon we can get rid of sticker autos.

    Didn't someone have a Gwynn Jr. card by UD that had Gwynn Sr. auto on it lately? This is the secondcard in the last couple weeks. I don't buy new stuff anyway

    Personally I think the stickers are very attractive and UD should be awarded for an innovative and creative autographic card product.
