Toned 1875 "Bahn Frei" Token... What is it?

I can't find any information on this... it looks cool, but I'm totally clueless. Can anyone shed light as to what this might be?

I too haven't seen this before.

    The legends say:

IN MEMORY OF THE 25.th (anniversary) FOUNDATION CEREMONY

I have no idea how to translate "Bahn frei" in that context

I would think that "Bahn Frei" would be "free pass" for getting into the ceremony.3Mark

You could be right. image Another possibility is that "BAHN FREI" might was sort of a battle call of the club.

If it was someone from Boston, Bahn Frei is just how they say "Born Free" image

You are correct it does mean free pass.
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

Bahnhof is a train station, Bahn means pass or course. Bahnzug is train. In the context of the coin the word Stiftungsfeier means most likely anniversary as was stated even though a literal translation would be celebration or ceremony.

Just called my friend from Switzerland. He also said, Bahn Frei could mean "Make way!"...Like...."Make way! In rememberance or memory of the 25th anniversary of the ...

But most like due to the set up would mean free pass.
