Advice on 1969 Mantle

Realizing it is difficult to tell from a scan, does anyone have any input on the Mantle for bid in the link ?

I probably wouldnt get it graded and it would present very well in my raw '69 Yanks team set ( definately better than the one I have now ) but still wanted to hear some feedback on what others thought.

  • looks like a stain on the lower right corner and possibly trimmed. hard to tell. An ungraded Mantle that on the surface looks this good raises suspicion, at least for me.

if unaltered it would probably grade a 6 which you should be able to buy already graded for $150 and often less than that.

Have you asked the seller for a better scan? front and back.

Also ask pointed questions. See if he (she) says yes/no or skirts the question.

    LOL thats too funny !

I have to say, that card has some really nice eye appeal. Even if it comes back a PSA 5, its far nicer than most 5's or 6's any day IMO.

Maybe he means "ex-Mt", like "used to be" Mint...

The guy has outstanding feedback. But he has some other cards for sale that are PSA graded, so why wouldn't he get a card like this graded? Of course the reason may be he already sent in the card and it came back as trimmed. Maybe it came back a 1 due to a pinhole and he cracked it figuring he'd "repair" the pinhole and try to sell it raw at a higher price.

    Too risky for me.
Lots of altered cards around - so I'd pickup a graded one.

I dont believe theh card is trimmed but it does exhibit slight tilt. Then again, as pointed out he has other PSA graded cards. Does this mean it was previously submitted and rejected? Or does this mean he thinks he can sell it more as a raw card? Use your gut feeling, bro.

$129.99 is very aggressive for this card.

even if this graded psa 6, i don't think buyers would be willing to pay $100 for this jagged pos

A truism in life is that " If something seems to good to be true, it propbably isn't ." I'm not much on vintage cards, can't afford them , but the lower left corner looks like it has issues. Also the upper left corner isn't square. I don't believe its from tilt. The previos advice that these guys have given you is sound, if it was my money, I'd wait and get a graded one.
