If that is true then it will open the doors for other top soccer players to join the MLS and keep Americans youth intrest in soccer. Would you rather play in the NBA, NFL, or MLB where your contract could go as high as $50 million or play in the MLS where you contract will go as high as $1 million dollars. If MLS pay starts to match the pay of the other sports then they will have a better chance.

Yeah...that's why it sucks. Americans by the millions are willing to sit through 4 hour long baseball games. But, Soccer requires patience? Come on now, it just doesn't hold a candle to our other sports, that's all.

Soccer is a great sport it just never paid like the others, but if it can continue to pay top dollar like the other sports in the USA then watch out it will surpass the others. One of the things holding it back was the pay. Would you rather make millions of dollars sitting the bench playing baseball or basketball or thousands as a starting MLS player. That's a tough choice to make, but if they can level the playing field with pay then that is a different story. An for those who complain about a 0-0 or 0-1 score, baseball is the same way. If you made a touch down worth 1 point and a field goal half a point then the scores would be about the same as soccer.

I don't buy that for a second. Baseball, boxing, and football (at various periods of time) have been the most popular sports in this country for 150 years, and only for the past 25 have most pros made significantly more than the average joe. Soccer lagged behind then, it lags behind now, and it will continue to lag behind when Beckham is done and gone, and none of it has to do with player salaries.
