good god, why would you want to rip this stuff? This product is NOT configured for value. You are payin 300 bucks for a base card, a
jersey card and a patch card! You have already list before you opened! The other 3 cards need to be worth like 150 a piece!

I know you hear this alot, but I think with either of these its truth.....save your money, let some other idiot open it and get screwed, and
then reap the rewards when he throws it on ebay for far less than what he paid!

    Good Luck

I usually stay away from this stuff, but the 2006 rookie class is pretty strong with top QBs and RBs. I just think about all those 2003/04 Exquisite BKB cases I passed on when they came out.

I don't rip boxes like this, this is a speculation play. And before the advice comes, I already have enough stocks for now, this is play money.

The 06 class is strong ok.....but who are you goin to have to hit to make your money back....the big three plus maybe Maroney, Drew, Addai
and Cutler?? Sure its a strong class, but UD knows that too. If you have been following up SPA and Contenders, you know that this class
is strong, but also long on scrubs! Hey, if its play money then good luck to you!

It is comparable to 03-04 Exquisite BKB, football collectors are drooling at the cards you can pull, check what bush spa goes and then times it by 3-4 since his rc will be /99 VY etc same...

Edit: what price were you quoted and by who? Blowoutcards?

Prices are already strong on this stuff pre-sell ($2650 a case, Exquisite has 3 boxes, Treasures has 4) and I'll bet they go up even more when they are released in a few weeks. These products are not for me, I posted here a while back about the $1,700 I lost on the Exquisite basketball case I opened (sealed case, purchased from Blowout Cards) - but I do see the comparison between this year's football class and the 03-04 Basketball class.

Still, if you are going to spend almost $3,000 on one case, why wouldn't you take that money to Ebay and guarantee yourself a Bush, Young, or Leinart piece - if that's what you want?

I think it's terrifically risky to do this with football. True, this was a great class--- but then so was the '99 class. Remember Couch, McNabb, Akili Smith, Culpepper, Edgerrin James, Torry Holt, Cade McNown and Rickey Williams? SP was sellling for about 200 a box, and it looked like an absolute can't miss deal. Then 4/5 of the draft class either tanks or gets hooked on dope and the next thing you know the box is selling for $80.

There are similarities between this draft class and 03 NBA, but the main difference is that the '03 draft had what has to be considered the biggest prospect since Patrick Ewing in it. LeBron seemed just about as 'can't miss' as they come, and-- and this is important-- nobody markets individuals better than the NBA. The NFL does a lousy job of this, by comparison, which is why so many decent players get virtually zero hobby attention. Bledsoe, Tiki Barber, Rod Smith... the list goes on and on in the NFL of guys that have had HOF careers (or at least very close to such) at skill positions whose cards aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

Buying a case is a little more like an index fund; by keeping the case unopened you have equity in basically everyone in the draft. By buying one particular player you've got all your eggs in one figurative basket.

For the gambooooooool 2650 is a little high quoted price where did you get that price... Highest price is blowout at 2400(at least to me that was quoted) My local dealer likely has cheaper as he is always cheaper than blowout.
  • Also I think Exquisite is brining this set back

but the cards will be /1 which will be super hot, that alone makes the risk worth it.

    EDIT:

    Pack Breakdown
    One Rookie Signature Patch card
    One Rookie Signature card
One additional signature (multi-signed, autograph memorabilia or Legendary Cut card)
    One Exquisite Materials jersey card
    One Exquisite Materials patch card
One base card (#'d to 150)

The second installment of Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Football is set to release within three weeks. Upper Deck is not setting an SRP, saying that the market will determine the SRP. That might be a smart move, considering that 2005 Exquisite Collection packs, which carried a $500 SRP, were selling for $600-$700 within a couple of weeks after the product's release last year.

Last year, the Exquisite Collection Rookie Cards featured two small jersey swatches (one being a patch) and a trapped panel autograph. This year, the top rookies will have ajumbo patch and an on-card autograph.

"The key this year is that every autographed patch Rookie Card has a huge patch," says Upper Deck football brand manager Gregg Kohn. "I think these are the most impressive Rookie Cards we have ever seen."

There are two tiers of the Rookie Signature Patch Rookie Cards. One is numbered to 199 (parallel to 99 and 1) and the other numbered to 99 (parallel to 25 and 1). We must say, they look fantastic and are a big improvement over last year.

According to Kohn, "Every box is hand-seeded, so we'll be able to balance out the boxes really well." So, if you get a spare rookie, you should get a nice patch or signature card to make up for it.

There will be 25 specially marked Gold packs that contain only 1-of-1 cards. "I'm seeding the Gold boxes myself," Kohn says, "so I might be able to get creative and do, say, an all-Reggie Bush Gold box, where everything is a Reggie Bush 1-of-1."

Other highlights include Exquisite Materials, which features up to six material swatches, all from one player, per card. With some cards, swatches include jersey tags and stitched team names found below the jersey neckline. Exquisite Ticket Match-Ups, designed to look like game tickets, highlight two top players who played against each other in 2006.

Legendary Cut Signatures return, including some of football's all-time legends. There also is a Dual Legendary Cut Signatures. Exquisite Inscriptions features player signatures with inscriptions, such as Paul Hornung's "Golden Boy" or Troy Aikman's Hall of Fame induction year.

The product is also loaded with dual, triple and quad autographs and patches, including NFL logo patches.

I just think of it this way, Caddy hit marks of 1500, Braylon 400, Ronnie Brown- 1200, Benson 800 and none of those players are on the level of this years crop. I mean colston, Addai, Young, Bush, Leinart,Holmes,Cutler Jones Drew,Maroney,Williams ETC image
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
First things first...Caddy would of still been the best RB stat wise if he was in this years draft with last years numbers...and the
guy was hurt a few weeks.

Its also unfair to compare this to basketball, as basketball has way more selling power online and no vet sig compares to Jordon, Lebron
or Kobe. There already is too much Bush and Young out there. I would say that this years football draft has more depth than the
03-04 bsk draft, but there are major dropoffs too. I mean pulling Mike Robinson or (gasp) Mike Vick from a case of this stuff will
    almost be vomit inducing.

I still must admit the hand coallation will be interesting!

I will be staying away. Only to lurk for Favres. Last years are at a decent price on the bay now. I bought 2 cases of finest this year and was quite unhappy with the collation. Out of the case that i busted the only low number auto that I got was an Emmitt Smith 1/25. No low #'ed rookies. Made it hard to put my set together this year. Though boxes are still going for a good price and should keep on if the rookies hold on. At least I was able to pick up my Young RC before he started to pick up his game late in the year.

I pulled those prices off of Blowout's web site last night - actually, this morning he raised Exquisite to $2700 (National Treasures is still at $2650) - if you have a cheaper source for cases (that is reliable and legit) I would be interested - drop me a PM!

Hand collation gives the opportunity to send certain boxes to the "right" customers.

John Elway? Brett Farve? Walter Payton, all of these guys are in the checklist of available guys you can pull, Lombardi I mean comon the list is insane. I hear there is a reggie white Cut card which would be amazing.

LOL, I know personally the guy that created exquisite and hand packs the boxes, met him at nationals as a few of my Buds are the bigger buys(spend hundred of thousands on the CUP, Exquisite 03-04 and etc)

All boxes are put together and no member gets any special treatment, My buddy one of the biggest exquisite buyers if not the biggest busted 12 cases (all he could get that day to him) of 05-06 bkb with the creater while we watched and he got lack luster pulls to say the least.

So far it looks like Exquisite is going to open up higher and National Treasures is going to be lower than the opening pre-sell case prices. Could be the Exquisite name is stronger, but I still like the value in the National Treasures.

I see that Topps is getting into the super high end game with Paradigm. Anyone seen this product yet?
