    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
    3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

I'm sorry, but anyone who does NOT vote for both Ripken AND Gwynn is so devoid of the ability to evaluate talent that they should never be allowed to vote for HOF again.

That's pretty much true for ANY first-ballot HOFer who gets 95%+ of the vote.

Megatron, weren't you the one who had the McGwire photo with "astonishing display of strength" in your sig?
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • I'm sorry, but people are making Ripken out to be a God or something. I mean, did you folks sleep with the guy every night?

The Ripken I remember cost his team a bunch of games by being a defensive liability and putting his streak ahead of his team. He also couldn't be with the regular players and had to sleep in a different hotel. God, I mean the Orioles wiped this guy's butt. They purposely blew out the lights in order to keep his streak alive when he found his wife in bed with Kevin Kostner.

/ I hope you sense my sarcasm.
//But Ripekn should not have gotten 100% if no one before him got 100%.

  • Yup, I was and still consider him a freak, and I love that. I just changed it due to other changes in my life.

I didn't want him in the hall because he treated me like an idiot when he spoke the way he did before Congress.

  • Ripken was and is an Icon; classy guy; the streak was crucial in healing the rift between fans after the strike. One of the most amazing moments ive seen on TV when he broke the mark, did the lap around the park you could FEEL the warmth and sentiment. Plus he was a hell of a player, super athlete and a team leader. well deserved honor for him and Gwynn to be inducted together.
screw mcgwire if he cant be forthcoming. he can sit and wait a few years.

And then there was the room service, batting practice pitch Chan Ho Park threw to him in the 2001 All-Star Game. I wonder who ordered him to groove that one.

I never slept with Cal, I admit that.

But to call him a defensive liability is far from correct. In fact, he was perhaps the most error free shortstop who ever lived. And his "lack of range" is completely exaggerated. If you look at his career accolades and accomplishments and don't vote for him, you have another motive of some sort.

I am not here to talk about the past. The fact that people chose not to vote for Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig or Mickey Mantle or Ted Williams or Hank Aaron or Willie Mays is history. The people that chose to NOT vote for them were ridiculous as well. And now there are two more names that people found a reason not to vote for - again, wrongly. Maybe when the next person who EVERYONE should vote for comes up (and after Gwynn and Cal I am not sure who they are - maybe Henderson, who many won't vote for because of his charming personality), these doofi will think twice and vote by the record, not by their own desire to make a statement. I doubt it, but maybe.

No biggie, in the grand scheme of things. There are wars and genocides and murders and genders who are treated like property in the name of religion.... but this is a sports forum, and in a sports forum, it is not right.

I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

Never a fan of Ripken but he does deserve to be in the HOF, McGwire prolly did not need the Juice to have a great career, remember back in '87 how skinny he was? 49 HR's later..... I bet he juiced after having back to back 9 hr seasons due to injury. I might have done the same to keep my career going.
