A tough year to find high grades in, and even tougher for high end FB's. Making it worse is the fact both the P&D mint coins are a two point weight in the registry.
I would take a 1977-D dime in MS67 non FB. I am also looking for a 1976-D in MS67 non FB. The FB dimes may have 2 Bous Points but they only have a Weight of 1 in the registry. I made up for that point loss with my Ike Dollars. I have the 77-P & 77-D Ikes in MS67 and they each have a weight of 3. The dimes have been the stopper on all my mint sets from 71 - 78. The total graded pop for dimes in these years is relatively low and the FB and high grades seem to elude me. I don't know where the others are finding them. I have tried David Lawrence, Ebay, Teletrade, BST Board, Heritage and others without success. Very frustrating.

Ya have to have those "Roosie Contacts" Those years you stated are very difficult in FB.
So what you are saying is, you don't get the 2 point weights in a mint set like they give in the 65-06 circulation strike sets? I've made a couple of both in MS67, but have had no luck in finding either in FB in mint sets or rolls. And I'am talking about a lot of sets and rolls gone through.. I'll go back through some of the ones I saved and see if there are any worth a submission. In the meantime if you find one, don't pass it up.
Dan I understand the 2 point bonus, why they give it and I am not against it. I'm just saying it is frustrating trying to find a FB dime or a MS67 Non FB dime from those years and you don't see them come on the market very often. It is a lot easier to make a FS nickel from those years and they also have a 2 point bonus. I'm sure you know how frustrating it is when you are close to completing a set and can't find the last few coins. If you make any, I am ready to buy. I guess I need some Roose Contacts. Maybe Paul can introduce me to some.
