    Browntoni:

I've been collecting the set for eight years -- and there just isn't much thrill in it for me any longer. I am still the only collector to ever complete a strict NM/MT or better condition set from this issue. In the last year, I found myself sometimes spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to upgrades some 8s to 9s -- and it just no longer became very thrilling.

I like collecting -- and I was basically at the point where I was simply "done" with the set. And given the amount of value in the set (something on the order of 20+% of all the PSA 9s ever graded and ~45% of all the PSA 10s ever graded), keeping it had a huge opportunity cost in preventing me from pursuing other collecting interests. So I basically decided to move on.

I'm keeping the Phillies team set from the issue. I'm also keeping all my 1955 Bowman advertising promo cards and panels -- I'm probably the world-wide expert on that. But I've gotten a lot of fun this past year in pursuing other collecting interests -- and I would like to continue to do so.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I know the feeling. I have done it with the 1957 Topps set and the 1963 Fleer baseball set. I have been upgrading and colecting the 1940 Play Ball set for a couple years now.

Always buying high grade Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton cards!!!
