Whatever happened to Darryl Prince?

I think that was his name anyway. The guy used to be everywhere in the hobby back five or six years ago. I think he went by the moniker The Prince of Cards. Anybody remember him...he just sort of dropped out of sight.

  • I remember Darren Prince. He use to sell alot of great unopened vintage packs back in the early to mid 90's. Alot of stuff you don't see any more...like 58 Topps football nickel packs, 61/62 fleer basketball, and 50's and 60's Topps and Bowman packs.

I think he became a sports agent? I read that somewhere.

I remember him too. He did have some nice vintage packs.
Last I heard he was a player agent for Dennis Rodman.
But that could be wrong too.

Can't be doing much agenting except for arranging
more piercings or tat's for Rodman.

I think he got caught up in the Operation Bullpen crackdown a while ago. I know a local dealer in Detroit that had to pull a lot of autos certified by Prince because they were fake.

I remember back in the early 90s, the Prince of Cards had a lot of 61F Bkb packs for sale - I thought he had bought a case?

The packs were priced fair - downside? Enough OC's to make a grown man cry!

Wonder how many of those vintage packs were actually authentic? image

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • I was fascinated by his ads as a kid in the early 90's.

He and Mark Murphy had a lock on the vintage unopened pack market. I think I have one of his ads stored away, I might find it and scan it.

I'm pretty sure he had a big find of 61/62 Fleer basketball (a few cases?) and '59 Fleer baseball.

His story reminds me of Dwight Manley. Collectibles dealer turned sports agent/bigger entrepreneur. Cool story.
