Stamp information?

I am currently creating my own stamp album pages and looking for a resource for US Stamp information. I have several catalogs but they only tell a very little bit of information about each stamp. I was wondering if anyone knows of a reference that tells who the artist of stamps are, how many were produced, why any particular stamp was chosen for that issue, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Richie

The Krause-Minkus US catalog lists artists, number printed, etc...
  • Thankyou Doug... I will start looking for a copy.

No problem at all. The booger will be translating those KM cat#s to Scott#s, but they do show pics which will help.
  • You might want to try SUBWAY. I noticed they had a 2003 listed for $10 in their Million Dollar Reduction Sale in Linn's

  • Does anyone have a copy of Encyclopedia of United States Stamps and Stamp Collecting? It seems a good book from the description but the copy at the local Barnes & Noble is wrapped in plastic and I can't see what information is available. At a $30 price tag, I don't want to buy it and it not have the information for individual stamps that I'm looking for.
