I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
<< <i>Okay, now are they worth anything in a 9 or 10? Don't see any on eBay that are graded. >>
They are very, very tough to get in high grade because of the centering, soft cuts, and stickers (sometimes portions of them get damaged). HOF stars do command a premium in 9. I would pay dearly for any Schmidt Star Sticker in PSA 10 grade. But they are very, very tough to get 9s and 10s on.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
I just bought a set of these for $20 two weeks ago at a local small card show. It's was probably the only 1980's Baseball set I didn't own. Tough issue indeed. Plus the length of the cuts in the set I bought varied quite a bit. I highly doubt they were trimmed. Just came out the packs this way. Wax damage to the backs affect many cards as well. I would love to see how your grades turn out on them if you send in any to psa.
I still have three unopened boxes of these at home. I cracked one box and put together a complete set. These are very condition sensitive because of print defects, varying sizes, wax stains, and very poor centering. Good luck with your submission.

Well, I was hoping PSA would extend the 72-Present special and I'd submit them, but not now looks like. Maybe someday. I'll keep the board posted if I do. Thanks for all of the info. on them guys. I don't have a Schmidt. I have Carew, Fingers, Griffey Sr., P. Niekro and Carlton.
as others have said, psa does grade them. i've sent in a dozen in the last 2 months. i yielded 1-10 (carew) out of the group, 2 - 8s and the rest 9s (with 1 being OC). they are difficult, no doubt. i've got a few more i'm planning to submit, just haven't made the time for them. are you trying to complete a graded set or raw?
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

Not trying to complete a set, I just saw these a guy had about 5 years ago. He offered me all 5 for $1 and I said what the heck. They were different and in good shape.

As everyone has mentioned, they are off centered and soft cut all over the place. I opened a full box and got nothin' hardly to show for it.
Good luck!

One thing to watch out for - 4SC occasionally has some, and they might be able to flood the market (I don't know how many more they have to submit).
