The most dangerous team in the playoffs?

kcballboykcballboy Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭
What are everyone's opinions?

I for one would like to think that the Chiefs may be trouble. I haven't had much faith in them for most of the year, they just haven't been a playoff caliber team. However, I think they could get overlooked by some who think that they don't deserve their spot, and could surprise a few people. They WILL beat the Colts, and after that will go into SD where they played tough 3 weeks ago and really only lost after the blocked punt. And if anyone should know how to beat Marty in the playoffs, it's the Chiefs.

I don't think it is completely out of line to think that they may be in the AFC Championship game.

Well kc, I'll be watching that one too. I actually like my Colts chances in this one. I know the run defense sucks, and Larry Johnson will be running all over the place. But the Colts play much better at home (as their 8-0 record indicates) and I don't see the Chiefs doing anything to stop the Colts offense either. I see the Chiefs running 8 minutes off the clock and then settling for a field goal one time, and the next thing you know the Colts score in 2 minutes and have the lead and then it's just a different game.

We'll see, it'll be fun to watch.

If I understand it correctly, if the Colts win they would go to Baltimore. And I do like the Chiefs chances of beating San Diego more than I like the Colts chances of winning in Baltimore. This is the first time in a few years I don't have any expectations for the Colts though, so maybe they will surprise me. I certainly won't feel like I had my heart ripped out like last year.

As for most dangerous?? No one wants to play the Eagles and for good reason. They are hot, much like Pittsburgh last year. I'm convinced now that the Bears have no chance, as Grossman and the offense is as confused as ever.

As far as teams I'd like to see if mine gets knocked out??????? I think Drew Brees playing against the team that gave up on him would be interesting.

See ya Saturday afternoon KC. Good luck.

I think we should all root for anybody but Baltimore to get in the SB. If they get in, they will absolutely pound anyone from the NFC. I'm not saying they're the best team (although they probably are), but their defense would totally shut down anyone from the NFC. I think you can score on SD, but it would be a shootout with say, the Saints...

I'd like to say the Eagles, but even a homer like myself is realistic.

That said, the NFC rep will have a chance only if they play the best game to date and if the AFC rep (SD or Balt only) has a subpar performance. I think the Colts and the Pats are one and done. Same thing for the cowboys and the Bears.

This year is an awesome year for match-ups. In the AFC you have the Dungy-Edwards, Mangini-Belichek master-pupil battles.

On paper the easiest pick in the first round should be Eagles over Giants. But even that game could go either way.

The Chiefs-Colts should be very interesting. How will the Chiefs defense the Colts? The last time Edwards met Dungy in the play-offs the Jets routed the Colts 41-0. In that game the Jets rushed 4 and seldom blitzed. The wind was a factor and Manning was hurt by drops finishing with only 130 some yards passing and 2 picks. Somehow, I think this match-up will be different. Plus, as nice as it is to pound the ball on the ground against the Colts they need to score touchdowns and I agree with BigRedMachine that the Chiefs might pound the ball down the field to only settle for field goals. How aggressive will Edwards be in the passing game?

You guys are right that the Chiefs may have trouble pounding the ball and establishing some ball control. It's hard to keep the ball for too long when reeling off 20-40 yard runs every 3rd play. image

I talk alot of junk about the Eagles being a Cowboy fan but I would say they are playing the best football in the NFC right now along with New Orleans

    1. The Giants are not playing "team" football right now. Everyone is busy fighting, and whinning about each other.

    2. The Bears have no offense. It doesnt matter how good there defense is. If the qb keeps making mistakes and giving the ball to the other team they will have a fast exit as well. A good defense goes hand in hand with an offense that manages the game well. Something Rex does not do.

    3. The Cowboys defense left them during the New Orleans game.

    4. Seattle is beat up on defense. The game between Dallas and Seattle could go either way.
  • I think the most dangerous team is the Ravens. They will do the most pounding.

I agree. They seem to be the most "complete" team.

Being from the People Repuplic of Maryland, its hard for me not to think the Ravens have a nice chance of getting to and winning the big show. Their offence does not do well against okay or better defense. Their defense has turned scary as they are crushing and pounding most opponents in the last month. I've noticed that there is a point in the game when the quarterback starts to show fear in their eyes. I saw it in Big Ben, Losman, and the majority of the other QB's. If somehow Kyle Boller is forced into the game , it means the almighty Footgall GODS have decided to frown on the Ravens dream. I know we beat SD earlier this year, but SD with LT & CO, are Hot, Hot, Hot, its may be a great game like that Boise game last night. there is no one in the NFC that really look all that strong, but....Sonny(Calaban7)

I agree but I would have to think the Chargers can't be too far behind in their "completeness"

Edited: I just realized that I have a wedding to go to on Saturday at 1 and the game starts at 3:30.

I'm still better off than my friend getting married because he's faced with the task of trying to leave his own reception early or asking his new wife if he can turn on the game just hours after being married. Oh well, better him than me.

  • I see Indy winning big against KC. KC is a totally different team away from Arrowhead. The last time so many people thought Indy would lose, they destroyed the bungals. Sure KC can run, but they'll abandon the run when Indy keeps tacking up TDs.

McNair deserves to win it this year.

While under contract, he was locked out of the team's training facility. Seriously, they would not allow him onto the property (was escorted out by security the first time). The EVIL Bud Adams (whom I put a couple of notches worse than Jerry Jones) then trades him to rival Baltimore for a 4th round pick in next year's draft.

I hope he wins it just because of my spite towards Bud image

I never did understand that. They draft a Vince Young so you would think who better to learn from than Steve McNair? Instead they get Vodka Collins and start 0-3 before they pull him.

Even more ironic... McNair is VY's Godfather.

For all that McNair has done for that franchise, it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I can understand negotiating but that whole situation was just over the line.

Having said that, since it was Bud, it makes total sense image

Wow, I had to go back to the ESPN website and see who all made it, by this thread I couldn't tell that the Patriots were in. You
can't forget about a QB who has a few rings!

The Ravens don't have enough on the offensive side of the ball to get it done...now if McNair and Lewis go out and blow the doors
off the place, then they look very good. The Chargers arn't going to shut anyone down, but can they go through the playoffs winning
41-40 and 35-33? Manning and company don't look as good as last year and that was a year they had a run defense. KC is a joke, easy
    in easy out.

I like the Saints in the NFC, they are used to playing in the NFC South, so they know good teams. The Bears suck, everyone knows
that. Philly is the best out of the East teams, but that aint saying much. Its too bad that the winner of the Cboys Seattle game
gets to go on to the next round..they both suck.

Its a year of suck. Everyone is in it, some more than others. I like the teams that have been there before. that means the Patsies in the
AFC and a toss up in the NFC....I know the Eagles will do their usual playoff time choke..if not to the Giants, in the championship game!

It is a year of suck? I suppose the season would have been better if there were 6 teams in each league that went 13-3 and every game had a predictable finish? It sucks that everyone has a chance. I hate it when I have to watch a game and don't know who the winner will be before kickoff. I guess it's different for you since you actually do know how the game will end when watching the Bucs.

KCballboy- Its nice the Chiefs made the playoffs at 9-7, after going 10-6 last year and not getting in.

Hopefully, the Chiefs will be able to put some pressure on Manning without having to blitz all the time. They've really only got one decent pass rusher in Jared Allen, so the other guys need to step up and give him some help. If they have to blitz a lot, I think Manning will kill them with short dump off passes.

The Chiefs - Indy game will be interesting. Both teams are great at losing in the playoffs. While I would be hopeful that Indy would make a better Super Bowl team, the Chiefs would be a good underdog. (We can imagine that one of them will make it through the rest of the playoffs can't we?)

    Go Chiefs!!!!

I think the Eagles will win the Super Bowl this year. I could care less about long suffering Eagles fans and I dont like the team to boot but I respect them huge this season, watch out for them.
  • Other than the obvious San Diego choice, I say to watch out for Baltimore. They are hot and not many are talking about the team right now.

As for the NFC, if recent play is any indicator, I say "Who cares". And for my beloved Bears, I just hope the following picture is not representative of their chances.
