I have the 2100 series all-in-one, and have problems with the latest download from microsoft - problem? I lost my HP Director and can't retrieve it.
What programs did you download that went to your desktop?
I had HP Director AND HP Photo & Imaging.
If you have the HP Director - go to "preferences" and you will be able to select the "DPI"
The higher the number, the greater the resolution. But also, the bigger the scan - so you're gonna have to do some "resizing" before you can post them.
Another question - do you host your own stuff? I used both photobucket and geocities - they're free.
i actually just got an HP6180 all in one and find that i cant seem to scan my psa cards b/c the height of the holder allows too much light into the scanner bed ruining the scan. anyone find this to be the case? any solutions?

I've never had that problem with the 2110 all-in-one.
Do you scan with the lid down? With the white background?
If so - how about leaving the lid up - that will allow light dissipation and you get that really cool black background.
I would imagine you already know this and I'm talking like an idiot.
Stone, the programs that are on my desktop that came with it are HP Photosmart Premier, HP Document Viewer and HP Solution Center. Sounds like Solution Center would be my bet wouldn't it?? By the way, I tried scanning with the lid up which I had read on here before but it just left a solid white background, not black. Anyway, when I tried to supersize on eBay I couldn't select that either because it said my picture/scan wasn't over 400 megapixels. Thanks for trying to help. I'll keep the other guy that just got the 6180 posted as well.
OK, I went to HP Solution Center and then to settings, scan settings, then scan preferences. I chose picture scan instead of document scan(I hope that was the correct choice) and then I upped the PPI from 200 to 600. I think it goes up to something crazy like 192000. I wonder how high I should go with it?? We'll see how it works now.

To be honest leadoff...
Most people scan around 250ppi and it's just fine.
Keep in mind, that you can resize the item to fit the screen better.
When you "resize" - I recommend you select pixels over mm or inches.
That way you can gauge the size better - in essence - any pic larger than about 500pixels in width -eats the screen and annoys the crap out of people - unless you are linking. There's still people using dial ups.
Also, check the program that will allow you to "Compress" the pic - this decreases memory size immensely.
Actually it was up to 19200 and that's what I used but it doesn't look any different than 600 ppi. I'm registered at Photobucket, I guess I should try that with eBay instead of paying them .75 to supersize. Is it the scanner of mine that's prohibiting me from getting one of those really close-up scans people get on Ebay? It's just so easy to use eBay's picture deal.
