i thought the media did a pretty good job of trying to motivate both of these teams to play hard. if both teams played to their potential, i thought this game was going to be a classic. usc played great despite losing to a piss poor ucla team to end their regular season, and big blue blew.

Musburger liked the game too since he made it obvious he was on the over.
And yes... if we fast forward to August 2007, USC will be ranked #1 in the pre-season polls.

on when they didn't get into the title game. The rose was wilted..I hope the championship game is better!

It sucked for the same reason that 80% of the bowl games that Michigan plays in suck; because they are perennially overhyped going into their bowl, and their coach is one of the great dullards currently prowling the sidelines in DI college ball. You want to know what Michigan has going for them? Cool looking unis and 100 years of tradition. That's it. In the last God-knows-howmany years they have exactly one fraudulent national championship to their name (Nebraska would have abused them if it had come to that) and a bunch of drum-jobs that have been laid on them by the Pac-10 in the Rose Bowl.
I don't think I'd enjoy U of M's annual ass kicking in January so much if their fans weren't so insufferable. But they are, and so I do. Well done, condoms! Jarrett is classless, but I'm willing to look past that and congratulate USC for ripping another aggressively mediocre Michigan team on national TV.
USC just seemed more motivated and excited to be at the Rose Bowl. I hope this ends the stupid arguements about UM being title worthy.
BTW - The Trojans aren't afraid to play East. They went to Arkansas this year and blew them out.

For the record, Michigan won its first 5 Rosebowl games and overall, they are 9-11 in the Rosebowl against the PacTen.
