Check out my PSA 5

Wow, received this some time ago, and ran across this yesterday while browsing thru some cards. I saw another graded scan of a PSA 5 in another thread that had 4 rounded corners and , well looked like a 5. THis card only has a small 1/4" surface wrinkle that is not very easy to see.

A surface wrinkle no matter how small, is an automatic 5. I know it doesnt seem right, but thats how they do it
  • Yes, when I received the card, I checked into the standards. I just think the standard is off when putting it side by side with another PSA 5. I wounder if thi would grade a BVG 7 ?

It's kind of a tough one Puck.

I sent in this card - thought it was a 9 or 10...

Was very disappointed till I looked at the back:

What a killer! I missed it totally - since I wasn't looking for it - to be honest.

A tougher one is the dreaded tack hole in T3s - the card can be a 6 by every standard - but if it has one little tack hole - automatic 1.

It does look like a nice card tho.

  • Wow, I wonder if you received a 6 because it was on the back?

Is that a scratch or wrinkle?

It's a scratch - probably done during the handling of the sheets?

    Thanks.

Sure is a nice card, even with that scratch

"A tougher one is the dreaded tack hole in T3s - the card can be a 6 by every standard - but if it has one little tack hole - automatic 1."

STONE a pin/nail/tack hole in any card is an automatic "1"
not just T3's, and I agree w/ the PSA's assesment as its mutilation of the card.

Hi Jay and Happy New Year

I didn't mean to make that sound exclusive - but it came out that way - I was thinking of T3s as my prime example since I rarely see tack holes - mostly in the cabinet/T3 area.

A few years ago someone posted a pic of a 52T Mantle that had been tacked to someone's wall or bulletboard!

    Sorry for the vagueness

Is it the same with tape? I have 2 E91 cards that look pretty good but have a small piece of tape on the back. Both came back as 1s. I thought they would grade at least 2s, possibly 3s.
