SSP coins on eBay

I don't do this too often, but I put up a bunch of coins on eBay and will be adding more tomorrow night. Mainly Canadian and British but there are a few others like this:

1888-H Mombasa Rupee which you don't see everyday.

If the spirit moves you, please take a look. Just click on the my eBay link in my sig line.

Thanks.

    << <i>Mombasa was a British colony in Arabia. >>

Try Africa. I've been there, as a matter of fact. Mombasa was our final port of call when we moved to East Africa in '72, though we ended up living in Moshi, and Arusha, in Tanzania. We sailed from Jacksonville, FL - NYC - Cape Town - Durban - Port Elizabeth - Mombasa. These little putt-putt boats came out to the ship and offloaded us and all our luggage and belongings, and the gunwales of the boat we were in was barely a foot above the water. It was kinda scary, considering how overloaded the little boat was and how much traffic there was in the harbor. Though I was barely older then than my daughter Victoria is now, I remember it clearly.

All personal reminiscences aside, I would've known Mombasa was in Africa instead of Arabia, regardless- it says "East Africa" right there on the coin. image

(Edited to remove some confidential info about another bidder, so if the two people who quoted this post will also edit that part out, his identity will be restored to semi-secrecy).

Edited at the request of someone who will now send me an Eliasberg World Gold coin. image

I was in Arusha as well in 2004 to be precise. We got married in Zanzibar and had our honeymoon before hand on the mainland. We did a safari for which we had to stay in Arusha twice - once on the way out and once on the way back from safari. Beautiful spot.
The meaning of life ? I don't know but I am sure that coins have something to do with it.

I put in a courtesy bid but was outbid.

Heh heh. I guess I'll have to give it another bump, just to cost him a few more bucks. >>

As an aside, if you're bidding $46, I extrapolate that the coin is worth at least $400.

I got to visit Mombossa while in the Navy in '84. Only saw the casino and hookers though. Don't worry, I only lost money! image

Lord M has the top bid on a coin that I could be interested in but as a rule I do not bid against any board members in order to preserve the peace.

Edit to add: I just checked and it's the next year of that series which I am after. 1916 GB George V 1/2 Crown.
