Holy crap, how do I add a seller to my favorites?

Check out this description...

Please note before bidding: This coin is not suitable for crossing into a PCGS or NGC holder. When bidding, please ignore the NTC grade on the holder. I am not the greatest grader in the world, but I would say this coin should be a MS-64. I also do not believe it is a DMPL or even a PL. Under a low powered microscope, this coin shows obvious signs of whizzing to give the appearance of DMPL. This does not show up in my scans, but trust me, the hairline scratches are obvious! This coin is suitable as a nice space holder in a beginner's collection, until upgrading is possible. Please bid accordingly!

I'm confused, this looks to be straight up honesty, can someone tell me what the catch is?

Something is wrong... What can it be?

To those that reply, thanks for helping me understand,
Ray

  • doesnt look like it has deep mirrors, but it is somewhat prooflike.
If you can steal it for a good price (unlikely now that youve posted a link) why not?

    cheers

Looks like a honest seller. That's why he has a 100 percent feedback record.

Maybe he figures it is better than dealing with returns since he offers an more than reasonable 30 day return.
  • That's our very own "sonoranmonsoon."
  • The seller also has some way cool Tobacco Cards...suwheeeet!

Couple of things stand out to me:

    1) if the coin has "obvious signs of whizzing", then how can he say that "this coin should be an MS-64"? Wouldn't a whizzed coin be more like a NET-50 at best?

    2) If you "ignore the NTC grade on the holder", then why not crack it out and sell it is a doctored coin that will never slab at a real grading company?

Imho, the seller is trying to draw people in by over compensating with "honesty".
  • Why destroy a good case just to prove a point?

Well, it is a TON better than most of the NTC auctions I see on eBay. I like the ones that say the coin will upgrade if resubmitted. At least he is telling it like it is in that auction.

    Hmm.....
    1. Did not even think about this one. Whizzing by definiftion throws the coin out of the uncirculated arena.
    2. I thought about cracking it out, but decided it is not my job to police other peoples actions. It is hard enough to police my own. Besides...I seldon get stuck with a coin in an NTC holder. Any opportunity to put one back on ebay and expose that company for what they are gives me great pleasure.
    3. Give me a break. If I wanted to draw people in, I simply would have over hyped the coin and stood by the stupid grade NTC put on the holder. The truth of the matter is, I am doing no more than I see other collectors on this board do when they have a problem coin. Sounds like you have been scammed so much, you would not know honesty if it hit you in the face.......bam
