2006-W Platinum One Ounce--arrived in the box of a half ounce!

So today I received my plats and opened one box. I was amazed to see that they shipped my one ounce platinum coin, with the correct COA, in the WRONG blue box. The blue cardboard box (NOT the shipping container, but the box these coins come in) says "One Half Ounce."

Now I'm wondering if I should open the others, too. I wonder if the wrong box will lower their value on eBay. (Yeah, I'm a speculator. I know, scum and all that).
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

  • Lower their value?? This could become the legendary "wrong box error", and double or triple the value of the coin! Isn't it worth a few thousand extra to have the wrong box?image

I am not a fan of not opening boxes and selling them. For the sake of argument lets say you sell one unopened and the buyer claims the box was empty? Then what do you do? If you accepted Paypal your lose as they always side with the buyer.

  • Ok, I recieved a 2006 Unc US Mint Set with one of the State Quarters flipped over within the celephane from the others.

    Is this a Mint Error?

No, and it happens frequently. It's not worth any more than a normally arranged set.
  • I agree GAT, and that has always concerned me. If I effectively say "I have no idea what I'm selling" then can't some unscrupulous buyer lie and turn that against me?

Lionel: I think you are underestimating. Heck, the box itself should net $20,000 or more!

What if it has 5 quarters, but only 4 states?
