Grades Popped..I got Grader #8

34 cards....31 eights. I thought I would get 4-5 nines but no, the grader got stuck on number 8. I thought the 1954 Bowman Harvey Kuenn was a 9, I must have missed a crease.

Nice grades. I would love to have those results with the cards that you submitted. In my view those are some killer grades for mainly 50's cards.

    Thanks jradke4

Actually, as much as I was hoping for a few 9's I was happy with many of the 8's that I got.....thought some could have possibly got 7's. It is so tough to get 9's on cards from the 1950's, especially 1958 and earlier.

  • funny how not a one was good enough for a 9? I am sure 1 is a hair better than th eothers, and there are a few there for comparision. But hey maybe I am bitter from a modern sub of mostly 9's no 10's! image

vintage 8s are tough to come by. Nice submission!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Those grades are outstanding for that era of cards.I would do summersalts for those grades on my 58s.

Thanks for the compliments. It paid to collect vintage baseball cards in NM-MINT condition in the era before grading, although I did pick up a few of those cards ungraded at a recent Chicago show. I love those 1950's cards. It is just so hard to get 9's. I thought several of the 1958's and 1967's had a chance but obvious the grader didn't think so. Many of these cards were from my Detroit Tigers sets and I decided to have them graded. I am sending in another submission tomorrow with the rest of the older Tigers that I think will grade high...hopefully I can get a few 9's from that submission.

Very nice grades indeed - 8s on '58s is no small deal.
The 54 Kuenn wouldn't be a 5 if it had a crease or wrinkle, no matter how slight, it would be no better than a 4.

I have noticed that a small "fiber" in the card will garner a 5. Does everyone know what I am talking about? I looks like a hair that is stuck to the card, but no matter how much you try and take it out, it is embedded inthe card. image
